It's hard to ignore markdowns. Will do, Colette!

Liz, we're really close! My hips are a little bigger, and a quick shoulder gave about 38". Thanks again!

The NAS vacuum sucked you in. That Tahari in navy is so gorgeous in the picture. I have it on my list but my first choice coat worked out so I'm going to have to pass on this one. Please post pictures if you end up buying it, I would love to see it in real life.

In case it helps, my measurements are something like 36-29-41 with 42" shoulders. Hope it works for you!

Liz, that is VERY helpful! My shoulders/bust/waist are a 6 or small/medium, while my hips are L/XL. The Tahari really sounds perfect. Thank you!

I tried on the Tahari in a medium today, and I found it a little loose. I normally wear a small/medium in tops, pretty standard medium in coats. I have broad shoulders, which usually cause fit problems, and the medium was still a little loose, but granted just had like a t-shirt layer underneath. The hips were very wide, and I don't have skinny hips, so I think it would be worth a try for you.

I like the pink coat and blue puffer the best to stave off winter blahs. However, among the other three I like the quilted Tahari the best.

Love the Tahari. I like the pink a lot, but in my world, it would end up grey from the salt and slush within about 3.4 seconds.

Or DD2 would wipe her baby nose on it. Like she did my trousers when I walked in the door from work . . . No time to even get to the bedroom to change!

Sharan, the sale is definitely contagious! The curved front on the Tahari is really great. I don't have anything else like it.

JAileen, the pink really is lovely! But I do have a vision of what
the custom will be. Light blue - not quite baby blue - like a light
cornflower. An earlier 1960s style, Jackie O, with 3/4 sleeves for
wearing long gloves and a short-sleeve dress. And if it happens, it
will be my mother who makes it. She used to make a lot of my clothes
when I was little, and I'm the only daughter. So there's a bit of
sentiment in this vision. :)

I think I agree about the lapels, smittie. The leather trimming is good, but the shape and pop on the Tahari is really nice.

Thank you for the reassurance, Suz. I'm hoping one of them works. Belts on most coats really are awkward. If they don't stick out, they make the coat pooch oddly because of the waist/hip difference. On the whole I prefer a cut that doesn't need a belt to give it shape. Good to know about North Face! I think that was just the first one I saw, and got me browsing to the rest in the category. I don't think I'll bother ordering it, since it just wouldn't get the use.

Ooh. I hope one of those coats works for you. They both look very promising to me and it will all come down to which one fits better. I do find that winter coats with belts can be a bit of a pain because the belt sometimes sticks out funny and feels fiddly. (I feel less this way about lighter weight belted coats.) The pink is also very pretty and I can imagine it as a spring coat.

The North Face one might not work -- their stuff tends to be cut for an "athletic" slim-hipped shape, and is very gear-like in real life. Although earlier versions of this coat have been Angie top picks. It's hugely functional, I think, if that is a consideration.

I like the tahari. The hem is nice and I like how the lapels fall a bit better than the cole haan.

The pink coat is really nice. I could picture you in it I'm the spring.

Ah, overtaken by the sale--it's so contagious!
I like your picks and can see them all on you, although the North Face seems an outlier, given your goals (it's cute, but it's still gear-looking). Like you, I prefer the Tahari coat to the Cole Haan--I'm attracted to the curved fronts. The tie on the Cole Haan is a plus, though, for cinching in the waist. The pink coat is so pretty!

I made the mistake of browsing. And oddly, though it's 95 right now, jackets and coats caught my eye. I could use a nice medium-weight coat that's reasonably up to date, water-resistant, sleek and flared, and not gear. My other coats are colors (which make me happy) and fit-and-flare (which always fit), or puffers (which are very cozy, but gear).

I really like both the Cole Haan and the Tahari, probably the Tahari the most. The North Face jacket looks a lot more like gear, but I do like the overall effect, especially from the back. It was the first one that caught my eye.

The pink Zella shirt and Angie's pick for leggings I'm sure I'll try. I
wanted some leather-look or mixed-media leggings last year; they have
to be very comfortable, though.

For the rest, the pink coat would be a serious temptation... for a such a hot climate, Easter is ridiculously chilly here. It's more likely to have snow or sleet on Easter than on Christmas. So a pastel wool coat is high on the list. But I may be getting a custom-made one for Christmas... so this Find is really just for grins.

If it fits like it looks, I would exchange my black puffer for the Laundry one in a heartbeat. (Blue! Fitted but not belted!) But I can't do that, and I really do like my black one.

I'm 85% sure I'm ordering both the CH and Tahari. Any tips on sizing?
