In this instance I would be saying to myself 'the boots elevate the outfit'.

In fact, just the opposite! If the rest of my outfit is blah, I like to add at least one fabulous thing to pump it up a notch!

What Una said. The new item may be a big confidence booster even if you don't feel the the rest is quite right.

Sometimes wearing the new item is what MAKES the outfit perfect. Just sayin'. That's my Team Wear approach.

I agree with Amy & Suz. The only thing I could suggest is to have a play with the new items & make some outfits before you wear them. It takes the pressure off imo.

This fascinates me. I am so much on Team Wear that I had never imagined it from this perspective!

Like Amy, if I waited until I had the perfect outfit, I'd never wear my stuff. Or most of it, anyway. The only thing that keeps me from being on Team Wear is if the weather is wrong for the item or if the occasion has not yet arisen (i.e. a fancy outfit but today is a MOTG day.)

Put em on and love em! They are perfect for your lifestyle and will suit you well.

And here is what I have found about being on Team Wear: if you DON'T have the "perfect" elements to go with, being on Wear urges you to step up your game and organize your shopping. Suddenly, you see what you need. Well, er...at least what you WANT.

I'd end up naked most days if I waited for my outfits to be perfect. Angie's advice is spot-on. Enjoy your new fab boots. If I recall your other thread correctly, they fill an important hole in your wardrobe. I doubt they're a mistake if theyre comfortable.

And this is not uncommon behaviour :)

Give it a few more days and wear a little make-up!

Ha, Angie - I will never mind your frank observations - they are always astute and diplomatically put! :)

I'm sure you're right. I think I must have some kind of "save your Sunday best" mentality - it is hard to shed.

Frankly put - you are overthinking the situation :)

As long as the boots are comfy (and only you can be the judge of that), they look KILLER and will work with your lifestyle and style persona. Mid-calf boots make a nice change. Just pop them on and head out the door!

Sooo, after getting positive feedback from YLF on the Ugg Deanna boots PLUS a killer rating from Angie PLUS a "goodish" accolade from dh (!!!), I popped the boots on and started to head out the door. THEN, I stopped short and took them off and put on some (Angie-approved) Timberland suede winter boots instead. Why? Well, I have been having some eye problems, so I wasn't wearing any make-up and felt like the rest of my outfit wasn't "perfect" so why wear new boots? I also decided I hadn't worn the boots around the house enough (in addition to the outfit/makeup issues) so that was another reason for the no-go.

Team Wear - do you wear new things when the rest of your outfit isn't "perfect?" What is your mental attitude towards new purchases? I want to be on Team Wear! I just fear making costly non-returnable mistakes.
