This is not as difficult as you might think, at least if you live near a major city. I had a suit made for me some years ago by Moon River by VJ in Thailand - they take appointments on their US tour every year. I went to a hotel in Chicago with a friend and looked at beautiful Italian wools. They measured us very politely and discreetly. There were samples available so we could choose lapels, number of buttons, pleats, etc. I had a pantsuit made and my friend ordered two blazers. My suit cost $400, fit perfectly, and is beautifully tailored. It took about a month after ordering it to be shipped to me.</p> <p>They post city dates on their website, but without the year - so I am not sure If they were here in the fall of 18 or are coming in the fall of 19. This doesnt meet your NOW desire of course. I have a beautiful pair of plum-colored high-waisted, pleated wide-leg trousers that I bought last year. The style, the fit, and the fabric is exemplary. The price point was also extremely reasonable. The fit was so good, I was tempted, but the reality is I don’t need two pairs of black trousers, especially one so trendy as wide-legs with white stripes down the sides. But in trying on some of these higher end designs, I found their pants actually fit me better (!!) than most mid-range retail brands, AND they were long enough for me. I did find great fit in my paper- bag waist wool pants in a lower price brand than this, but not cheap.<br /> It is not always the high price-point pants that work, but there is a skew toward longer stride and great waistband construction, which is what give high- waisted trousers the fit I need for my body type, and often the better drapey wools.<br /> This is where I need to remember that I can get items in this range if I don’t buy a lot of other stuff willy-nilly. I've looked everywhere, but I haven't found a 100% wool high-waisted pant anywhere, especially not with the pleats, which I absolutely love. There is also about an extra foot of material in the leg so they are wonderful for tall women.</p> <p>Let me take that back: I did find a less expensive brown/camel houndstooth pair of pants in the similar vein, also at Nordies, by Ralph Lauren, but they only have 1 size left.
