I was just thinking that I have to start accessing my winter and fall needs. I just got an iPhone AND a great app to document clothes and put together outfits like on polyvore. So before I buy anything, I am going to scrutinize everything.

We do have to be careful. I know that I am loving blouses now, but I don't want to throw out of t shirt that I have.

I have the same problem with my summer closet ...I literally have 2 areas a meter wide for hanging work clothes. and when I finished summer, and the purging that went with it, I happily am wearing clothes that hang in just .5 meter. My closet looked soooo empty. But I rotate and reuse to death, usually the same bottoms every week and different toppers or combined differently. It is a fun challenge to get the most out of what I own.

I packed away summer only items now and brought back some spring for the sunny but colder period coming now. When I did, I could tell that there are a few final things that will not go back into my closet next summer...They are on the replace list now. Purging is freeing!

Sounds like you will start off the fall season with a great clean slate to identify wardrobe holes. I was actually planning to purge all my unworn summer clothes in a few weeks as our seasons will shift soon. I'm looking at cutting down summer clothes to half! But I really didn't wear half of my clothes, so why store them right?

I think you're right on schedule. For the first year ever, I started thinking about fall items, and especially transition outfits, now in August instead of later when I've already missed the first of fall. I think it's a good way both to identify holes and to see what you can do without (not buy something and then look in the bin and see you've got something like it already), which, if you can avoid that, is part of the strategy for getting fabber items where & when you really need them.

Not that it is fall here yet, but I thought I'd take a dance through the storage bins. I was indeed vicious last season! I like ALMOST everything that is left (two sweaters need to be evaluated). Now I need to see where my wardrobe holes are. I'm pretty sure I won't know what they are until I see them/need something. I feel oddly bereft!
