Eventually I realized I have to be a bit more selective and figured out a few stripe rules for myself (for example I prefer the stripes to not be all the same width; prefer thin dark stripes on lighter background and not the reverse; prefer navy and white to black and white...). I also overdosed on the classic Breton pattern pretty quickly. But it's still absolutely a classic I love on others! With me, it seems to be a certain color that only surfaces on the retail scene big-time about once every 15-20 years. Such as cobalt, kelly green, citron...so when I see it, I just dive in and search it out and buy more than usual. In my own defense, I do tend to keep the cream of these crops for a long, long time, knowing that they will not come my way again for quite a while. The diagonal AT sweater and a white and navy knit top. I also bought some Sperry striped shoes.<br /> Have you ever over done a pattern? I love the BR top but feel like it is overkill even though I would wear it. So I think my goal right now is no more striped pieces. </p>
