I still see plenty of people wearing shorts and sandals, but I get cold easily. I'm wishing I had a couple more lightweight cardis or jackets in non-wooly fabrics. Most of my sweaters and jackets are really winter layers, and a bit too warm right now.&nbsp;</p> <p>The summer stuff is easily accessible -- I just roll it underneath the bed. It's totally a psychological thing for me to put away the stuff I'm "done" with. My summer wardrobe traditionally had almost no red or pink (just in scarves, really) -- and LOTS of blue and white. My winter wardrobe also has lots of blue (and a bit of white) but much more red and pink as well -- though I could do with an even bigger dose now that my hair is grey and that is a long term goal.&nbsp;</p> <p>I put my shorts and tees away this weekend too. All gone! I will wear cropped pants with high shaft booties for several months, then switch to skinnies with moto boots or knee highs and (I hope) culottes with tall boots and long undies.&nbsp;</p> <p>I always keep a few sleeveless tops to wear for dressy occasions and under jackets. It must feel great to have completed the transition. I am only about half way through my seasonal packing/unpacking project and was waiting until the weather took a cooler turn -- and it has. So finishing up will be my goal this week. Like you, I am hesitant about wearing the cropped pants (specifically my cropped flares) into Fall/Winter. I will be trying them tonight with booties and socks (of same color). My wider leg crops and culottes work well with my tall riding boots, so they may get some play. I love summer and mid to high 70's are my favorite temperature for daily life. On the days the weather allows, I keep sneaking in one more wear. Since we had a streak of high 90's and over 100's, I feel fine doing it. Today's high was forecast to be 65, but it is 75 now, so I'm holding on. Oh, and the swimsuits -- that's the one part that always makes me sad! It all fits into one full-size suitcase, tucked away under the bed. We're pretty minimal, I guess -- at least with our summer stuff.</p> <p>For now, I'm keeping out the sandals, my linen blazer, my light wash jeans, and a pair cropped jeans. I'm thinking I'll be done with all of these by Halloween or Thanksgiving and I'll stow them then. I took out our winter clothes Labor Day weekend, since there are always some chilly evenings in September and we've been camping three weekends out of four this month, so we needed them! It's nice to finally be done with having every single article of clothing I own in my closet or dresser -- felt very crowded in there.</p> <p>A few things I've realized: <ul> <li>I'm already feeling a little too chilly for cropped pants in the morning (temps in the low to mid 40s F). I don't think I'll be partaking much of this trend once there's snow on the ground. Even with boots, the shorter inseams are not appealing to me. Maybe I'm a wuss. :)</li> <li>Part of the reason I've not been excited by boxy, unstructured tops is that they really are a hassle to layer with -- great for easy summer outfits, not great when I need to figure out a sweater and a jacket to go on top! I still prefer slightly fitted tees and tailored-fit shirts for most of the year.</li> <li>My summer wardrobe has very little red; my winter wardrobe has quite a lot! It's a warming, energizing color that I'm really drawn to in cooler temps, but not when it's hot out. Conversely, I have very little blue in my winter wardrobe, and a fair bit in my summer clothes.</li> <li>I seriously need some more winter socks. Yikes.</li> <li>My GEAR has a more cohesive color palette than my town clothes. Sigh.</li> </ul> </p>
