I think mid calf would probably be best , ankle length looks awful on me to be honest. I have looked at some video of the University and most of the ladies working there seem to be around the smart casual look.....no suits in sight but lots of long sleeved tops and black trousers or skirts. It looks quite conservative really (not my style at all but I need to impress, not shock!). I did think of wearing darker colours with brighter accessories, do you think this would work?
Yes, you are right, I missed the obvious....the summer will be the biggest challenge to dress for .... I haven't actually seen any photos of the summer except those of students....and they all seem to have long sleeved t shirts and jeans on, which is not very helpful!

I will go there in late August so will have to take clothes for summer/autumn weather then a very cold winter with snow.

Well, it sounds like summer is the real challenge.

How long do skirts need to be - is just below the knee OK or are we talking ankle-length? And how dressed up do you need to be?

Help! I have been applying for jobs overseas and I realise I am going to need a capsule wardrobe that is very specific! Any ideas for a capsule will be most welcome. I will be working at a University teaching and mentoring foreign students. Because it is a Muslim country I need to be more or less covered with slacks and sleeved tops or longish skirts/dresses. The rule is half sleeve tops minimum , I am not sure if I can wear short sleeves with a topper on all the time but I imagine so....... I have a couple of very stylish jackets that I could wear in navy and black and some dark trousers. I am not very tall (5.4) so don't usually wear long skirts at all, they swamp me! The country will be hot for four months in summer but fairly cool/freezing with snow in the winter.

I have lots of sleeveless tops in lovely colours and patterns, do you think I could layer these and use them in my wardrobe for the job? It will be heated in the buildings in winter and may well be cold with air con in the summer....

Thanks in advance xxx
