I can't speak to how it would work with your closet, but I have found mine to be very versatile. As for the spot, I do think this one is noticeable so I would return. But I have bought expensive-ish bags with minor flaws before and found it sort of liberating. That probably sounds odd. But if I got an unblemished bag, I would have felt bad if it got dinged up while I was using it. Using it is inevitably going to cause wear, so I'd avoid using it to keep it pristine. Or I'd obsess about keeping it protected while out and about. That's no way to live.
