You can start subtle and warm and see how you feel about them. I'm 52 and feel my real/dark color is so draining on me. With age I have lost the natural cheek blush and lip color, so dark hair does look pretty stark and unflattering for my face :-\</p> <p>In fact, when I get too much dark root (I let it go about 3 months between foilings), I feel drab inside. When I get the highlights done, I feel so much brighter inside. Golden Brown? Reddish Brown? Highlights? I like it dark, but 1) the gray roots show up so quickly, and 2) very dark is starting to feel a bit harsh. I just got it cut short again (like the profile pic) but I think I want to let it grow out again. (Don't like it so short.) </p> <p>I'm also thinking of going back to my red glasses (the ones in my profile pic.) They're a bit bigger.<br /> For the last year I've been wearing narrower, black frames. I like them - they're hip, and they have a golden yellowish color on the inside - but it's time for my yearly prescription tweak, and since I can't really afford new frames, I could go back to the red ones.
