I am really impressed by the insight that you have gained from SYCing this past month - I too, used to be an early adopter to the latest trend, until my finances changed dramtically and I could no longer do that! </p> <p>SYC has been so valuable for me because it has caused me to "pause" just as you said - and let it really sink in that I don't always need the newest, latest and greatest!</p> <p>I had to chuckle at you Sephora purchase, because I bought some of those also - and have enjoyed them all summer. I think these kinds of breaks help us take stock of needs and wants and become more thoughtful in how we approach purchases as well as in how we achieve our personal style. A few weeks ago it dawned on me I'd been SYCing without realizing it for a month, and that made me aware that I felt really good about my wardrobe and how I was dressing myself; it also makes it easier for me at this point to say no to something that catches my eye since I'd rather apply that $$ to the three or four items I really do want to add to my wardrobe this coming season.</p> <p>Set goals for yourself that you like and can live with. After all the last time I tried this I crashed and burned after one week. I have learned that I don't need to be on top of every trend that comes down the pipe. I tend to be an early adopter. For example leather leggings are all over many a retail site, but I got mine last year. It's making me think what do I really want versus what I need in my wardrobe. I think it is a good pause. I may extend it through the month of September, which will be hard because my birthday is coming up and I like to buy myself a treat. But I also want to buy new ski boots and I may have to get custom ones, which I'm sure will be expensive. </p>
