One of kiddo's friends came by at lunch today, and she was dressed almost exactly like he was, except not in costume--ripped jeans, Nirvana tee, a flannel that looked amazingly like his. The differences were subtle, but you still could tell which was a contemporary take and which wasn't. Well done, sir! </p> <p>Joy, I think that depends on what items and how you wear them. I recently got lots of positive feedback on here for a pattern mix that included a tank top I got when DS, now nearly 16, was a baby. Angie has complimented me twice on a pink shirt I’ve had since high school in the 80s. I haven’t worn either of them consistently (or they’d be worn out), but I’m glad I held onto them to pull out in the right moments. We went thrift shopping last weekend, and this is what he came up with, after watching Clerks and Singles for inspiration. </p> <p>It made me realize how, even though certain looks come back in style, the fits are often different. Kiddo regularly wears an open button-down over a tee with jeans, but now, the jeans are slim and the tops are less oversized. Docs are exactly the same, though his updated pair weigh less than the old school ones. </p>
