It might?</p> <p>cciele, up until this weekend, the red had been pretty stable, but still far less stable than brown.&nbsp;I've found that it lasts about six weeks without fading much -- but one trip to the pool and it looked like I hadn't had a touch-up for six months! I've heard blue dye is even worse.</p> <p>Mo, your highlights should be safe.&nbsp;It's the rainbow colours in particular that are not particularly stable. My hair was done by bleaching out a lot of the brown to make yellow highlights, then colouring over that with bright pinkish red.&nbsp;What's happened is that the &nbsp;pool water has stripped the red from my hair, so the yellow highlights&nbsp;underneath are&nbsp;showing through. My hair has turned a humorous tint of pale peach, which, while not unflattering, is nevertheless not what I was going for. The six-year-old girls in my son's class think it's fabulous, but they play My Little Pony and wear Disney princess costumes to school, so their taste is questionable at best.&nbsp;</p> <p>It's true that before the swimming pool, my hair was a patently artificial shade of pinkish-red, but it looked intentional. Now it looks like I let my daughter dye my hair. With Kool-Aid.&nbsp;</p> <p>I think I'll have to dye it back to brown, at least for the summer. I'm going to be getting in and out of pools a lot, sigh.</p> <p> </p>
