I came back here to see what the verdict was on coated jeans.&nbsp;<br />I am sorry I could not comment earlier. I had a black pair of coated jeans from Mango for the last five years, and the coating washed away over time, but I still kept them and wore them because I liked them so much. <br />I just discovered this new pair in store, and I am seriously considering getting both the black and the burgundy (more like eggplant in real life). There is a proper method for cleaning them that involves a brush and no water (and a different set of instructions for if the brush method doesn't work)</p> <p>If your coating comes off, it can be redone with the right wax and a hair dryer. </p> <p>Google the care instructions for Barbour coated jackets for the best care information. Some have eventually lost the coating, others have kept it so far. I would not have them unless you like them well enough to have just for a season or to wear also without the coating. Mine were machine washed on gentle/hand wash and always hung to air dry. Some say to dry clean, others to not dry clean. They are like leather...too warm for warm weather and cut the wind when it is cold. I liked the look of the texture. None of mine swished.
