I hope Joy or Lisa weigh in. They pointed out a Ecco boot with adjustable straps similar to this boot. I believe Nordstrom stocked it. I have to run but I'll post again if I can track down the style name for you.

ETA: I don't see on the Nordstrom site.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Sarah and MNsara, the Veronica Slouch is a more casual look than the one I want...but thanks! After reading some of the YLF blogs about boot fit, I did some measuring of some of the boots I currently own in order to get a better idea of what I need. It looks like my optimum measurements are: shaft height 14 1/2 inches and circumference 14 1/4.

These Frye Fionas from NM Last Call seem to fit the measurement requirements, so I'm going to give them a whirl:

http://www.lastcall.com/store/.....ID_HERE%5D

If they don't fit, maybe I'll just hold out until the fall styles come out!

Nancy - I know they're not quite what you're describing, but I'll put another plug in for the Veronica Slouch. I have 14.5" calves, and it took me forever to find a boot that worked. These are incredible - they fit my calves like a glove, and as Sara said, because of the buckle, there is no gap.

The Frye Fiona looks gorgeous, but it doesn't look like you would make the top buckle narrower than the lower one? It looks quite a firm fabrication? I haven't measured my calves, but I notice that my boots have a small elastisized insert at the top, and they don't gape at the top...not sure if this would solve the problem?

It's possible they might be too tall, so they are hitting right below the knee rather than an inch or so lower (at the wider part of your leg). All fall and winter we had quite the boot-fitting tutorials going on here, with many, many people trying on boots and Angie and others weighing in about the fit in terms of width and height :)--you might want to search for some of the threads.

I haven't seen that exact boot, but I did find that my Frye Veronica Slouch boots buckle at the top makes a difference! When I wear leans tucked in, I can loosen it a notch. When I wear it with hosiery, I tighten it a notch. I don't have gaping at the top either way.

(I have slightly short calves, so most tall boots end where my calf has definitely narrowed under the knee and gaping usually happens.)

I've suddenly decided I need a new pair of boots (preferably Fryes)....tall with a sturdy but stylish heel....to wear with dresses. I'm looking for something Western-ish, but not cowboy-ish! The problem is my weirdly shaped calves! They are about 14-14.5" at the thickest part, but they narrow significantly to about 13-13.5" just under the knee. I fell in love with the Frye Jane Stitching boot and ordered them from Zappos last week:

http://www.zappos.com/frye-jan.....pe-leather

They fit great at the thickest part of my calf, but they gapped horribly at the top and looked ridiculous. Does anyone else have this problem?

Then I found these buckle-top Fryes at Nordstrom, but they are no longer available:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/fr.....ot/2977041

Has anyone seen this style (or one similar) anywhere? I'm thinking the buckle top might solve my fit problem.
