I always chime in to say this and will do so now - body size is different from body shape. When you stand in front of a mirror straight on and look at shoulders, waist, and hips, which parts are the widest and narrowest? (just answer for yourself privately if you're feeling insecure, no need to tell us your answer if you'd rather not). Your description makes it sound like your shape might be what Angie calls "apple".

Maybe check the blog and the forum for suggestions on flattering looks for the apple shape? If it doesn't seem like that's really your shape, check out the others. Here are the five types Angie describes:
Racy Rectangle
Inverted Triangle
Hourglass
Apple
Pretty Pear

Hello! Welcome!

I do believe Angie recommend hair, eyeglasses and a bra fitting first. The foundations make a big difference as to how things look and fit.

My second thought is to think about how you spend your time, what you need clothes for. A closet is more satisfying when it’s proportioned same as your activities, I feel.

And my third thought is about pure style. What attracts you? What makes you happy? Colour? Whimsey? Clean lines? The absence of fuss? I personally like things a little Rough Around The Edges (RATE)

Hi!
Did you check out the advice section of the blog? It starts with articles on body type, including how to move past those very basic fruits or whatever. To get there from your phone, click on the blog icon, then on “advice” at the top.

There are lots of different body types on the forum. You might want to look through some of the WIW posts to find somebody who shaped roughly like you, and see how she dresses. I’m not saying you have to copy that person—we are all different and you want your personality to shine through. But it can be easier to analyze what works and what doesn’t it it isn’t your own self you’re looking at. It can also help “depersonalize” things if you take pictures of yourself ans analyze them instead of the mirror.

Remember to love your body, the strength it has, and the amazing things it can do.

I am 37 years old and have never really payed attention to what I wear because I am so critical of my body. I am a 38C bust, 34 waist and 38 hip. I am 5'3'' and have chicken legs.
