A friend of mine works at school here in our district, but her children attend school in a neighboring town. While start and end dates are pretty similar, she often has a conflict with spring or winter breaks being the week following or preceeding ours. So she often has to request time off the week before or after our break to have time with her kids. I am really excited. It is easy to say in retrospect, but there were SO many staff members pulling for me (and I knew everyone on the interview committee) that to a normal person it would be inconceivable that I did not get the job. Still and all, the nerves get to a person, and prior to the interview I could not sleep or eat. I am very relieved now, as it would be hard to go back as a happy sub knowing I did not get the job I applied for! Surprisingly (because I genuinely did not enjoy children when I was younger), I missed the kids when I was not at school last year. When I worked with a child on a book or on a project, I had a hard time letting go and not following through with them (because I was not a full-time employee and was only a sub).</p> <p>So many of these kids have so much potential, and it's not their fault they were not read to as a child or did not have a lot of educational opportunities before going to school.
