I, too, am a member of the narrow calf club (13"). The boots that best fit me are my Frye Julia's because they lace up. Next best are my Blondo Pasadena's, which have a tiny bit of gap. I also like my Timberland Stratham's for a more casual look (they are not fitted around the ankle).

If you're looking for boots to tuck pants into, you can probably get away with a looser fit. But if you want a dressy boot for skirts and dresses, it's a bit of a challenge.

If I could afford to, I'd buy the Aquatalia Rhumba as dress boots. I'm currently stalking them on several websites, hoping they'll go on sale...

They probably are! It took me forever - until joining this forum! - to learn about boot fit. I always assumed it was just me and my scrawny legs. If you search here there are lots of threads and suggestions. There's one started by Shiny that I found very helpful called "narrow calf support group" or something like that...

Also bear in mind that the measurements listed online are usually for a size 6, and different brands scale the calf to different shoe sizes differently.

Coclico is another good brand for narrow calves, also spendy.

I bat for Team Narrow Calves too coming in at 13 inches.

Tall boots tend to fit really well when you have a 14.5 or 15 inch calf.

Usually better end brands make narrower boots. You will probably have to splurge in order to get a good fit.

P.S. If you're looking online, Clarissa, remember two things about the calf circumference measurements you'll find on shoe sites: a.) they're frequently incorrect, and b.) you're not looking for a circumference that matches your calf measurement. They measure around the outside, so that number will always be bigger than your calf.

The boots I have that fit a 12-inch calf without alteration are:

Frye Melissa lace-ups: http://www.zappos.com/frye-melissa-tall-lace

Aquatalia "Undy": http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html.....undy+boots

Both expensive, but the Fryes I found new on eBay and the Aquatalias went on steep discount at Nordstrom right before this year's Anniversary Sale. (Actually, a kind YLFer pointed me toward those Fryes on eBay.)

Then I have two pairs that I had altered, with varying results:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ng-tragedy

(The P.S. to that story is that he did stretch them to fit, but they're quite snug and look a bit funny.)

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....he-cobbler

I have a fairly small calf too and have on occasion bought boots in the wide calf size to make it look deliberate. I have a pair of boutique 9 that fit well and a pair of Miz Mooz Miller OTK that fit quite well too.

Clarissa, I'm a 12 1/4" to 12 1/2" calf (if I'm running a lot). A few that have fit me - Frye "Julia" lace ups (expensive), MIA, Santana Canada "Penny", and Miz Mooz 'Gayle'.

Hi Clarissa -- this is a HUGE (no pun intended) topic on the forum. If you put "skinny calf" and "narrow calf" into the search box, you'll find lots of helpful information.

Have you measured your calves -- foot flat on the floor, around the widest part? Most non-specialty boots on the market will fit a 14 - 15-inch calf reasonably well. My calves are 12 inches -- very difficult to find boots. I think Angie's calf is 13 inches -- still difficult but not quite as bad. Are you somewhere in that range, or even smaller? (At smaller than 12 inches, the only place I think you can get fitted boots is Duo -- they custom-fit them to your measurements. They're in the UK, though, and the shipping is high.)

If you don't like slouchy boots, you may have a long search ahead for a pair that fit around the calf. Know that you're not alone!

I'm trying to find a pair of brown boots and So far I've only tried a few, but I'm petite with small calves and the ones I've tried on so far look too slouchy on my calf. Maybe the boots I like are slouchy but I don't like how the look on? Maybe a stiffer fabric will help? Any ideas?
