I agree with you, Marlene. Interestingly, I love looking ahead to spring/summer fashion while in the depths of winter (I start looking in February...before most of the merchandise is even available!), but I just can't get excited about fall/winter fashion when it's still broiling hot outside. I almost never participate in the NAS for this reason.

Spring/summer is also harder to shop for, IMO, so I think this is also why it gets my attention. Fall/winter fashion comes more naturally to me!

Heck, we had snow the 4th of June! Tulips, iris, and lilacs blooming now...it is still 'spring' here! Our hottest weather is still 2 months away ( early August).

But, stores have already had their big summer sales and are cleaning up the aisles and shelves. No FW displays here yet, but it won't be long I suspect.

I'm the spanner!

You can absolutely enjoy our gorgeous Summer weather and think about Autumn fashion. I don't enjoy our weather any less because I'm thinking ahead. That's part of the fun! The same way we can think about Spring and Summer fashion in the depths of Winter.

The most important thing is that you enjoy the warm temperatures now if you're deprived of them like we are in Seattle. And wear the heck out of your Summer clothes!!! Autumn in Seattle will be here before we know it.

Me too! I shopped Spring/Summer starting in February and am pleased with the results: I always have something to grab that works and looks good, with seemingly endless possible combos. When I opened my summer box from last year it was clear many things could and should go and that felt good too. Less stress trying to get ready in the morning was a big goal when I started caring about clothes a few years ago. So to start worrying about Fall NOW when I've finally reached my goals seems counterproductive. I know for many here fashion is a hobby rather than a worry or source of stress, but I want to get back to other interests for a while. Plus, fall/winter is a long buying season. I'm confident I can ignore until September and be fine.
It's hard to give up the shopping habit however. I have to conciously walk past stores, put down items I've picked up, tell myself no, I don't NEED that want, I have everything I need - possibly for the first time in my life, thank you ylf!

We won't have Fall weather until December, so that feels crazy to me. Our Summer is just ramping up. Of course I'm all for looking for seasonless pieces, like unfrumped is doing. I bought a cashmere sweater a few weeks ago that might even get worn in the A/C this summer.

I hear that!
While I'm doing more in- season shopping and not limiting myself to "sale" items only, the biggest help I think is developing my list of items that might work , and also, thanks to air conditioning, having more seasonless pieces, and bring prepared to buy if something turns up out of season. This is more for elusive wardrobe essentials and multiseason pieces, but could include buying a wool sweater in July!

Our summer here has started right on time as usual, and summer is my least favorite season to dress for, but I'm not anywhere near in a fall dressing state of mind either!

Me either! We've had a late start to summer with only one really hot day so far. I'm enjoying my white jeans and my long shorts right now. Fall will come along soon enough. But I have to say that if I wore a hard to find size, I would probably be more proactive about planning for cooler weather.

Big Yes Marlene, I totally agree. Yesterday I even saw a shop window with some Autumn display and honestly felt like in twilight zone.

We've had a long, long winter and I only just fully stored my winter clothes away. I refuse to think in any other terms but the season which we have here and now.

I see some of you have already started your fall lists. I'm sorry but we are JUST getting some nice weather in the pacific northwest and I'm enjoying wearing all my spring/summer items. I'm just not ready to move on yet! Today I was wearing a cute short skirt, tank and sandals and I noticed I wasn't too hot or too cold....just right! Cold and rain will be here soon enough...
