Greg, your time in the Timbavati sounds amazing. We met a guy from the UK who camped in a tiny tent next to us. He is in the Kruger for 6 weeks. He has seen everything including leopard cubs.</p> <p>To all those who want to come and visit, please do! If you are prepared to pay a bit more and go to a private game lodge, they will take you right up to lions, leopards, cheetahs and whatever else you want to see, but even in Kruger you can still see a lot driving around on your own.</p> <p>Rachylou - I have a Canon EOS 60D and used a 70-200mm lens.</p> <p>We never saw any rhino, but my in-laws did see 2 one afternoon. As a teenager I once went with a group of friends&nbsp;to a privately owned park bordering on the Kruger park (<a rel="nofollow" href="http://timbavati.krugerpark.co.za/">Timbavati</a>)&nbsp;and spent a week living (in an old army&nbsp;tent) among this wildlife.&nbsp;</p> <p>This thread is such a strong reminder that I'm South African. It is always amazing to see wildlife and I never tire of it, but I grew up with it and so it feels normal. We had a great time and will definitely return to explore a bit more of the park. I thought you might enjoy these.</p> <p>1 - Giraffe crossing the Letaba river<br />3 - A pod of hippos<br />4 - Elephant trunk<br />6 - Vervet monkey. In Afrikaans we call these "blou-ape", meaning blue monkeys. I think I now know why. Look closely... :-)<br />7 - Spotted hyena<br />8 - Vultures<br />9 - Tree squirrels<br />10 - Chacma baboon<br />11 - Baobab tree trunk<br />12 - Lioness and cubs<br />13 - This was our best sighting of a honeybadger ever. They are difficult to find. The bird in the picture is a Hammerhead. </p>
