JG, the Excel spreadsheet sounds like a great idea! I should try that. I'm glad that your closet cleanout is more manageable now.

I don't think I can concisely give each of my clothing items a letter grade - too hard for me to be completely objective - but I might record pros and cons, discard clothes that clearly aren't working, and submit "maybe" items to YLF for assessment.

The Excel spreadsheet would also be a useful way to keep track of how many times I'm wearing each item, or identify which items I haven't worn at all in recent years, or identify gaps (or over-abundances of similar items) in my wardrobe. You've given me a million good ideas.

This was my overwhelming closet thread - http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....replies=20

Today, I read through the wealth of information. I can't tell you guys how much that helped!! I actually went with the "inventory" approach and & tackled pants (meaning no jeans, no capri's, etc. just pants) today. I tried on each pair & then did an Excel spreadsheet (Color, Weight, Type, Material, Detail, Pockets, Brand, Size, Leg, Rise, Grade, Notes). Everything got a solid letter Grade (A-D).

17 pairs in total (LOL - I've tried to do it on my own without this advice & still had that many left). I've pulled out 5 pairs to get rid of (they were all D's). There are still 5 C's that may become D's or be altered or replaced. 6 B's (2 are winter). No A's!

Pants are the part of my closet I most need help with & my absolute least favorite to shop for! WHEW!! Now, I have to focus on what's left and figure out the remainder and what I do truly need.

I have to say it feels much easier for me to tackle it in Excel than to look at it all! Anyway, just wanted to share a quick update & say THANK YOU ALL for your words of Wisdom!! My quest continues!
