On Maya's advice (thank you, Maya!) I used the Best Offer option (it was a Buy It Now item) and offered US$90. They were asking US $124, plus US$28 for shipping. To my surprise, the offer was instantly accepted--I guess the seller can set an amount that they'll automatically accept for Best Offers? Good to know for future eBay shopping. I paid a total of CAD $150 for the trench and shipping.
