Thanks for the sympathy, all. I know I'll be enjoying the fall and winter when everyone is shivering to death, but it just seems so far off right now, and I get so darn irritated from the heat. Yesterday I had to fill up my car and when it was 112 degrees outside and I ended up herding four rambunctious kids (the carpool) into the gas station for slushes. So very annoying!

I'll keep reminding myself just a few more weeks...

I'm not a fan of summer dressing either, it is a lot harder to layer when you are already overheating in your undies. Bring on fall!

I think the AZ summer was fabulous until August. I'm so over it now, as well. It doesn't help that the stores and ads are all showing fall/winter styles. I'm so ready to wear the new boots and jackets I bought.

We've had an unusual summer, it is finally heating up and everyone is happy. The Pacific NW is usually perfect in the summer, my favorite time of year. But it took a long while to get here. I picked the wrong year to plant a tomato garden, just now able to pick a few. But even still, fall is in the air and I'm looking forward to layers and boots.

Ana and I were just discussing this last week. I'm so over summer too.
It is SO HARD to feel inspired in a knit dress and sandals for five months in a row.
I have to dress nice for work, but as soon as I walk outside (and if I have to run errands) I get drenched in sweat and I really am not a fan.
We've been over 100 for 20 days now.
If I was a stay at home wife, I'd be in my bathing suit all day long. :(
But yes, that third piece or topper really completes a look to me, and I miss it.

We've had the air conditioning running non-stop practically for months here in Mn! Most days this summer have been in the upper 80's and low 90's with very little wind and extremely high humidity...which means anytime you go anywhere indoors you get blasted with ice cold A/C and start sweating when you leave...not fun. At home DH and Biscuit need it cool/cold so Im bundled up under blankets constantly....bring on Fall! Should be here in a few weeks.....

Hey NK. That's SO true about bras morphing into sponges! I live in NC and it's been hot and steamy here all summer long. We do have four distinct seasons and like you, I am BEYOND ready for fall and the refreshing breezes. The weather usually turns gorgeous here about mid-September, with brilliant blue sky and cooler weather. That's when I break out my corduroy jackets and knits. I do wear some wool, but winters here are pretty moderate, so light layers work best. Since I'm a rock-hound/jewelry artist, I adore Arizona and visit often for the fabulous gem shows there. But I totally understand your longing for cooler climes! Thank goodness for air conditioning!

haha- summer just arrived here yesterday.
Not really, but we have had the coolest summer (Bay Area) that I can remember in 10 years and now that school is in full swing a heat wave has decided to descend upon us.
It probably won't officially cool down until atleast mid October. But it's really anyones guess at this point.

I'm in the opposite boat here, moaning about the damp and cold day after day. I can't wait to be able to wear a lighter jacket out, instead of a coat. At least you can always find a way to warm up in winter though. Scorching summer days can indeed be unbearable and sap your desire to do anything!!!

Here in the SF Bay area we have had the coolest summer in decades. After weeks of cool morning fog at last we had some heat today--it felt so good.

Normally warm weather will last until the last week of October. If I remember correctly, the big Oakland fire was during the 3rd week of October and the temperatures were in the 90s.

I need to add a layer in the evening nearly all summer long, but the days will usually stay warm and sunny. For those who live near the beaches it has been especially foggy this year. Farmers are worried about the harvest--earlier planted crops still haven't matured.

I hear you. We have a vacation home in AZ and until recently I only ever got to go there in the summer. This year we'll be there in Nov and Dec. I'm looking forward to being there when it isn't 120 degrees. What is the weather like in Nov and Dec? Will I finally be able to wear jeans?

I'm in AZ too and am definitely ready for boots, jeans, and jackets! The school overdoes the AC, so I get to put on some layers when I'm inside, but I walk a mile to and from campus so I can't wear boots and jeans until at least October :(

Marianna, the average high in Dec and Jan in Phoenix is 67-69 degrees, with average nightly lows of 44-47. Tucson is a couple degrees cooler. It's cold enough for boots, but warm enough that if you go outside mid-day you don't need any layers on top!

Arizona is insane. I remember when I lived there (in Tucson, a long time ago): We moved there in the summer, and then we kept waiting and waiting for it to cool off enough to actually enjoy a hike in the hills. Finally in November we went for it, and we were sweating in no time!

TOTAL OPPOSITE - over winter (being in Aus). I am much looking forward to summer and being able to put together a simple, stylish outfit without wondering how to combine a million different layers to stay warm! :-P

But I feel your pain. We get super dry, scorching heat here because of the hole in the ozone layer right above Australia. Believe me for someone like me with very pale English skin I can hardly go out because I burn in literally 5mins.

Our winters in Canberra tend to start in mid May (when we start getting quite a few chilly days) and the chilly weather tends to drag on through to September. We'll have a week of really cold/wet/windy weather late August, then some warmer spring-like days, then another cold snap, then full on heat from about mid October. Spring is very unpredictable though.

The grass is truly always greener!

I know some of you won't like to hear it, but I am so ready for autumn I can't stand it! It's been so crazy hot here we barely leave the house, and when we do, we pretty much regret it!

I had some errands to run today and came home with my outfit damp all the way through to my undies. My padded bras practically turn into sponges this time of year.

And I'm DYING to start layering my clothes again, or just to have the option to. I picked up a burnt orange cardigan a couple of weeks ago and sadly realized it probably won't be cool enough to wear it until November.

Boo hoo and woe is me.
