Oh, yeah, I do it all the time. I have a pretty good sense of what is "me" and what isn't, so I don't usually end up buying things that don't work for me. I look here for inspiration instead of in stores.

I don't thinkj I intentionally copy anyone, more I take inspiration from the way YLFers put colours and patterns and shapes together. My body shape means that most of the outfits other YLFers wear are outfits I will never be able to wear without looking ridiculous, but I am always getting inspiration, so I continue to love looking at everyone's WIW's.

Honestly, I think this is one of the best parts of ylf!!! I get so many wonderful ideas from the wiws - since we're unlikely to be running into each other on the street wearing the same outfit at the same time, I saw copy away!! I do admit to sometimes forming unhealthy obsessions with items that I see other forum members wearing or buying and sometimes I will go out and snatch it up only to realize later on that it doesn't flatter me as much as the original poster or doesn't suit my lifestyle. Since I'm not the rip-the-tag-off-and-wear-it-right-away type, I mull on it for awhile and once the euphoria of buying Angie's shoes or Marianna's top or Queen Mum's skirt wears off, I can take the time so see if this is really something that works for me and is worth keeping. My closet is definitely full of several ylf lemmings but there have also been quite a few returns.

Of course I copy others or rather use them as inspiration :-)
As for buying something because I liked it on somebody else here - I don't think I do it. I did buy some things on Angie's recommendations but I was very critical to myself about them and did not buy or keep them if they did not work for me. I think I am too critical to myself and too logical...
OTK boots were a good example. I like them on others here and wish I can wear them but every time I put them on in the store it just does not work for me. Maybe I have not found the right ones yet...

Tara, I see things all the time on the blog and forum that I want to copy! What's even worse is that I try to recreate some outfits, but never quite have all the pieces. For example, I really want to copy Angie's rainy day outfit. I have a red jacket and polka dot umbrella, but still am looking for the perfect jeans and boots to complete the look. My closet is full of not-quite-there outfits, or should I say, works in progress!

Oh, Tarzy, you have hit a nail on the head! I have picked up lots of totally fab clothes because of others on YLF, but when I wear them I am not as comfortable as I want to be -- because its not really *me*. . .

For me, in some moods, I can happily wear extra layers and accessories, but my real heart is to wear as few layers and things as possible.

I figure my YLF-inspired purchases are part of my learning curve -- how was I to know that scarves bug me after two hours, or I am happiest in shoes, not boots, etc...?

I have also adopted some wonderful looks I would never have found in my own - sheath dresses, comfortable low heels, clams, etc.

I figure that because I never analyze style, it is an unavoidable (and totally acceptable) tradeoff ;-)

(Does this mean "Bring on the YLF Swap"?)_

Here is my list of things I've bought while on copycat mode:
Loft Polka dot ruffle top
Turquoise cardi to go with said top.
Loft V Necks
... and from the YLF store:
Naturalizer Bates
Gap perfect bootcut jeans - I doubled up on those

Chocolate..... Mmmmmm..... Chocolate...... (Sorry, was just attempting to suggest something else that is very suggestable. I know, I'm naughty!! ;-))

Yes, I must confess that I am dreadfully guilty of this myself. It is very fortunate that we don't get in trouble for outfit plagiarism 'round here, otherwise I think I would be on suspension!

Some days I think that I'm being super-dooper creative when I style an outfit. Later, I'll look at the photo and realise, "Hey I saw XYZ sporting almost this exact same look last week/ six months ago!" (Nb - Statement affected by which hemisphere person is living on.) Ooops!

Yep, but like Steffie I now take my own lifestyle into consideration first. Two of my latest tosses out of the closet were a pencil skirt I felt I *should* get as a grown 40 yr old woman and a sweater I bought thinking, "this one is more age appropriate than that one (which I should have bought)". Neither one was really me and now I'm moving on. But I'm dying to find a sequin striped shirt like Sveta and some gray boots like Rae lol! The difference is knowing that they will fit into my style. :0

Yes, about 100% of the time. :)

What I've had to to wrap my head around is that I can really admire something on someone else without really having to wear it myself. Today's blog post is a perfect example. Angie looked so gorgeous and chic my head immediately went to, "Where can I get a pencil skirt? Will my boots work like that? I would look so fab in that coat!"

Then I realized that even though that look is so fab, it's really not for me. I just don't get dressed up like that more than a few times a year. It's just not my lifestyle. So as much as I love the picture of myself in my head wearing that outfit, the truth is there isn't much reason to invest in pieces like that. 99% of what I wear is going to get dirt-stained, sweated in, and heavily laundered.

Tarzy, I'm glad to know it's not just me!
