Nordstrom, Saks, and Lord and Taylor usually have a good selection of formal dresses. I've found some at Bloomie's, as well.</p> <p>What I would suggest is you start browsing the websites, finding styles, clicking that little link that lets you know if you can find it at a store near you, then call that store and ask to hold for you until you can try it on.
