I was shocked when my friend in TX posted the freezing temps. I live in VA Beach where it rarely gets below freezing and tonight it is dipping into the 20's. It is a shock to the system! After 25 yrs of marriage I still can't believe how cold it is when we visit DH hometown near Boston... They all laugh at me....

Even as a northerner, I'm having a hard time adjusting to the sudden dip in temperatures. I'm wearing lots of layers, drinking plenty of hot beverages, and not venturing too far from the fire. Sending warm wishes your way!

I am freezing all the time in the winter and I grew up in Northern Ontario. I have tried to embrace winter sports but I can not imagine willingly going out in the cold for long periods of time to have fun. Fortunately my husband feels the same. Now that we have retired we escape to Florida for a couple of months each winter. Not long enough.

You are so not alone - I'm in the same front right now! (Other side of Fort Worth.) I actually woke up cold several times last night. Our damp cold fronts are just misery.

Oh honey, I complain all the time about the cold. Anything below 10C is COLD. And I don't do frozen. Can happily live without the snow and ice. Never miss it. That's a big reason for us not moving to Boston.

I like the heat. And it snowed here last night.

I've lived in California many decades, but I grew up in Salt Lake and went to the U of U where the cold wind swept down the mountain slopes to freeze the students as we walked from class to class. Nowadays, however, my blood is thin.

When I go to Chicago in the winter the locals will laugh at how I've gotten decked out in coats, sweaters and scarves. All I can say is, "my blood is thin." I long ago forgot how to drive in snow and sleet.

So, I feel your pain. You have my deepest sympathy as I mentally prepare myself for the next adventure to the Chicago suburbs. As soon as I walk into the house, the family turns up the heat. I hope you find a toasty place, a pet on your lap and a good book, and maybe a space heater.

You are not a wimp. I spent some time in Texas (for military training) and I remember the off and on wet, icy weather that we had from December through February. The cold could cut to the bone... and I am originally from New York. Hope you can get toasty and warm with some hot tea/cocoa. Wrap yourself in a luxurious, plush robe or cozy sweater.

Nope, not a wimp. Such low temperatures are for the birds.

It is currently 35F here in North Central Texas, but when the wind is factored in we have a "feels like" (windchill?) of 26F.

Now, I know that it's not really COLD in the grand scheme of things, when there are parts of the US and Canada that see -40 (which is minus forty on both temperature scales), and that is just brutal.

However, I grew up in the American south and 100+ degree Fahrenheit is not unusual, and 100 is actually where I start wearing shorts (if I wear them before it reaches 100, then they don't help me feel any cooler once it does so it's really just a mental game I try to play in summer). And our 100+ days can start as early as April and go as late as September.

I am not acclimated to air that feels like 26F and I am a meat popsicle and I would cry but I don't want my tears to freeze on my face!

OK, rant over. Thank you for listening to me whine like a wuss.

p.s. it is totally ok to laugh at me if you're up north and think I'm a total wimp
