But then I saw the real color on the link and your description and I loved it. I think that a good trench is worth it. And yes, they sometimes cost more than a wool coat. It is hard to find good rainwear with liners that are not astronomically priced. </p> <p>I would however strongly recommend something waterproof with a liner. It will make it so much more versatile. Can buy the madewell and return it ? I would get it, hang onto it and still look around. Full disclosure, I owned a waterproof TravelSmith trench for about 18 years ( with a liner ) and both my mom and sister own them. We love them. Travelsmith has a good return policy if you decide to try it and need to return it.</p> <p>Just for your reference : the following is waterproof , wrinkle resistant and you can buy a liner for it ( if you are looking for that) for around the same price as the one you are considering. $115 for the coat and $59 for the liner.
