I've learned so much about capsule wardrobes and from Kate (and others) about packing that I thought I'd share my capsule and a few thoughts. I was hemming and hawing about luggage for awhile since all of our existing stuff was too big to meet the carry on requirements. I ended up ordering a duffle and a shoulder tote from Chico bags. They were awesome. DDs used those as their carry ons and I used a LeSportsac Large Weekender. We decided to pack light to avoid having to check bags (my stuff inevitably gets lost in transit anyway so I figured I'd save myself the headache.) I brought three pairs of shoes--flat black leather sandals, my SE slip on sneaks and a pair of old running shoes. (The running shoes were for hiking and I planned on just throwing them away after.)</p> <p>My beach capsule was made of two swimsuits, a pair of Walmart board shorts and a LE rash guard (which I never ended up using.) I felt this capsule was perfect. I just threw on the tee that I wore the day before to walk to and from the water.</p> <p>My clothing capsule was based on black and white. I brought two pairs of loose nylon pants (one black, one white)and one black Athleta skirt. I chose loose sleeveless tops that coordinated with everything. I brought one knit dress that I didn't really need and a linen button down that is not shown. I wore a cropped knit moto on the plane rides but never needed it other than that. Everything fit in my carryon with room to spare. I packed my small things like underwear, bras, swim capsule in a ziplock gallon bag since I didn't have any packing cubes. Worked great. </p> <p>We had a great trip and I felt like we all packed really well. DDs constructed their own capsules and everyone wore almost everything they brought for a change! I don't think I would have changed anything except maybe swapping out the running shoes and slip on sneaks for a sportier pair of sneaks that could serve dual purposes. Hawaii was sneak city at least on the tourists--neon Nikes and New Balance with dresses and shorts. I saw a fair share of platform sandals but not a lot. I even saw some Japanese women climbing Diamond Head in crazy high heeled wedge sandals! </p> <p>That's it in a nut shell. Thanks for reading:) </p>
