I'm not sure if the fit would be right for you, but I do like the black skinnies I got from Lucky Brand. They have a couple of different cuts in black, and they come in different lengths. Mine are the Lolita, but there are other cuts that are straighter. They're having a sale now too.

I feel a bit like Goldilocks in my recommendations.
J. Crew Match jeans--too thick, uncomfortable due to waistband oddly cutting into hip bone.
Paige skinnies --popular but I found them really tight and I constantly had to tug them back up.
All Saints--my high waisted jeans were too substantial for all-day comfort.

Winner
3x1 w3 skinny jeans--thin and substantial, don't stretch out.

I, too, wear black skinny jeans A LOT, so I like to keep multiple pairs on hand. I've had good luck with high-rise skinnies from Urban Outfitters and from Loft, and both are relatively easy on the pocketbook.

(In fact, lots of jeans are on sale at Loft right now for $39.50.) Loft sells them in petites, and UO offers multiple lengths or "grazers" in some of these styles.

I'm on a similar hunt! Try Zappos. They have some High rise jeans on sale around $160-- and I second the J Crew toothpick jeans, though the SA said to go down a size as they can bag out

Another vote for the gap skinny. Conider trying their straights sized way down if you're in a hurry.

I just bought a pair of JCrew toothpick jeans in black last weekend. They're midrise. Online they usually have some colors in a petite - not sure about black though.

Swear by ag the leggings not the stilts which are more cigarette. Not as flattering to my eye in those of generous calves and skinny ankles.

Also swear by gap resolution.

Jbrand is also quite good, but not like ag.

We'll shoot. Gap doesn't have the resolution skinnies right now. I'll search around for AGs. I've heard good things about them. I was ready to try dstld, but they don't make shorter lengths in my waist size.

I have some Wrangler Mid Twiggy that work well. They are good basic skinnies, quite a lot of stretch, but they keep their shape well.

I think Wrangler might be a cowboy brand in the USA - anyway the jeans have lasted well and have been great.

I have a pair from Kohl's - Rock and Republic I think is the brand. They come to just under my navel and are slim fitting all over. They are also on the short side. Nice and stretchy but don't bag out. They were quite reasonable on sale and wash nicely. My only complaint is that they are always covered in fuzz....but that's just life with cats!

Traci, I have black resolution skinnies from Gap. They are quite nice, a good higher waist, and super comfy. I literally wear them five days a week, because they are good for my work uniform and more comfy than my other black pants. And would be well within your budget

My beloved, very old, hand me down black skinniest have died.

I have a thicker waist and am moving away from low rise. I'm a 12ish right now, but need a short inseam, so that rules out some. i need a slimmer fit in the legs because I'd like them very streamlined, for under tunics and dresses.

Any recommendations for a pair you love? Under $150ish, but I'm not scared of cheap;)
