I love, love, love mine! As with Hunter, you would need a fleece liner for colder climates. The great thing about Le Chameau is that they are made from natural rubber. I find this makes a huge difference with better regulating temperature (my feet never get too hot or too cold). And they are not shinny. I would not rely on them if the temp drops below 39F. They are also just rubber - no cushioning in the sole. I think they definitely require welly socks. Also I regret a teensy weensy bit that I got the glossy version. I wanted grey and it only comes in glossy, but I feel conspicuous roaming the bush in them.</p> <p>For cold and snow, I would go with the Sorels. OK, well, I have Target knock-offs since I didn't think I could justify the price in terms of CPW. I do not have Hunters as they don't fit my calves, but last winter I wore my Sperry rain boots all through the snowy season, and while they were OK, my feet were kind of cold. </p> <p>My thing about snow boots is that I refuse to wear anything that is (a)puffy or (b)hairy, which eliminates a huge number of them. I also live in the city so I don't really need very hardcore snow boots. I just got these and am loving them so far. Had them on yesterday. Not very warm (even with the wellie liners) but not as cold as my cheap rain boots and of course they are nice and tall so snow can't get in and they are super cute and totally waterproof. I actually kind of like your earth boots - similar to the Sorels that seem to be all the rage lately.
