Thanks Anna and CocoLion. sometimes its really hard to figure out those acronyms!

I have been skulking for a while and I would certainly like to shop your closet Anna. You have really fun eye for interesting items.
I know how it feels when you have bit of a time where you hardly even get to go anywhere. It certainly makes me feel confused about where I want my style to go. Hope you find some clarity.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. I just got back from returning everything at Nordstrom. There were a lot of people shopping there, weird, late on a work night.

Just know that I'm thinking about you. SYC in a brilliant closet like yours will give you an outlet for tremendous creativity. I look forward to more of your amazing outfits.

I really enjoy shopping, and I shop fairly consistently but I do keep it within the realm of the budget. However, there were a couple months this fall where I delved into some pretty serious retail therapy, and I had never done that in the past so it was a strange phenomenon. My Dad was diagnosed with ALS in September, and I was heartbroken. I'm trying to prepare myself for the really difficult years ahead.

I just wanted to say that I do understand. Hugs.

Kudos, Anna. Realizing what you're doing with retail therapy and making those returns when you fell you've made a mistake -- that is not always so easy!

What you're going through is overwhelming and you need your "you" time -- I know how hard that is!

I second what CocoLion says. At least you recognize it was purely retail therapy and are going to return it all. Kudos to you for identifying this behavior and btw I can relate, don't know the details (and don't need to) - went through something probably similar with my dad a few years ago and I only wish I had been as self aware as you. SYC for a while and you will feel better!

Great idea. You are lucky to be so self-aware that you even know the retail therapy was just for therapy. Your focus will come back in time, and meanwhile you have a killer closet already.

With everything on your plate, I understand the not having a life and how retail therapy can be appealing. So SYC is a great idea while you refocus. Give yourself some time to get reacquainted with where you are and where you want your style to be.

this approach is so healthy...just some distance for perspective especially when you are so involved with your dad that perspective is hard to come by.

ps: i for one would love to syc but have access to your closet.

Checking in to say that I'm on the same page with both of you around this campfire, and while I haven't done any cray-cray shopping, I'm somewhat like Mo as I haven't "dressed" much lately or done much in the way of wardrobe rotation.

SYC is a safe way to gain that clarity and see what speaks to your inner style voice. You've got a full plate going, so just make sure you doing something in a compassionate way for yourself each day. Even taking an item from SYC and seeing it with a new pair of eyes.

I can relate. I found I only 'dressed' about 5 times this month. I have been staying home mostly on my off days, which is good for the budget, but not for getting the wardrobe into rotation.
I think a 'cooling off' period is a great idea. The change of seasons is coming, too, and you can start pulling out your mint and playing around some.

So yesterday between doctor and dental appointments I did some retail therapy. Too much, way too much. I'm going to return it all tonight. I was just buying pretty/cool/interesting things to cheer myself up.
Next week my work schedule changes to five - eight hour days (currently I work 4-10's). I don't know what it will do to my social life. I'm still taking care of my Dad so I currently have no life. I should not buy things for the imaginary life.
I feel like my style is changing but I don't know where I should go stylistically.
So I think I should go on SYC to gain some clarity and focus. Can't plan if I got no plans, if you know what I mean.
