This is a good reminder that a $40 coat is still $40 wasted if you won't end up wearing it because of the discomfort!

Joy, thank you <3 I am definitely keeping the jumpsuit, jeans, and top! The rest is going back. Hopefully I'll find some other lovely things.

Keep the jeans. Ruffle top and jumpsuit. They look like the fit well. The rest can go back to look for a better fit. The coat looks too small. The dresses could fit better.

Jenni, thank you <3 and such wisdom about not keeping new things that don’t fit. I am letting them go, hard as it is. I don’t want those items to sit unworn in my drawers.

Jaime, wow thank you! I filled in the return form for the coat… but I am not 100% sure either way. I will wear it some more as you suggest! Hen house hasn’t calmed down entirely. Still working to resolve things. I have one poor hen just getting pecked and pecked. I will likely have to remove her to heal. I’ve had moments this week where I’ve considered giving up chickens entirely. They are wonderful until they’re mean and horrible.

Everything looks sensational tbh! I see why you are tempted by the coat and I would be too. I would try it a few different ways before giving it up. The jumpsuit is amazing! Jeans are fab! Everything really looks wonderful. Hope things are calming down in the hen house.

Don’t keep things that don’t fit properly when you’ve only just bought them, I think.

Suz, I washed the jumpsuit but haven't tried it on quite yet. It seems okay??? It's only 51F here today, and not the 60s we had the last 2-3 days. I will try it on soon and see. I do really, really love the jeans. I wasn't expecting to at all, if I'm honest. But they are super, super comfortable. They're stretching out and loosening some but so far not baggy. We will see how they age.

Sharan, thank you <3 I really love that jumpsuit so much! Hurry up spring weather :D Reordered the amber dress in the next size up, so will let you know if it works out.

Suz and Sharan, you're both so right about sending back things that don't fit well. It's an old habit to hold onto things I like even if the fit isn't 100%. I do find the fit really close with the navy dress; the fabric has some stretch and with no sleeves, I don't feel super restricted. So, I might try that one in red. (The navy with white is just too much contrast for me.)

Brooklyn, thank you so much I have a second haul hopefully arriving soon. So we'll see if any of those work too.

You look super fab, dynamite in those jeans and the jumpsuit. Very pretty, glam earrings, too. Style-wise, I prefer the shorter dress on you; I hope the next size up works out. Glad you are sending back the things that don't fit. Especially if the point is to feel and look fabulous!

You look beautiful in everything, but that jumpsuit is sensational! Keep and hope it doesn't shrink! Sometimes even if it does shrink a little, the iron will relax the fibres again. So -- crossing fingers!

I also love the jeans on you. I agree with you -- the length and the slim straight (vs. loose straight) shape makes them work for you. The tops are also fantastic.

I love the dresses and coat, too, but my instinct is to send anything back if the fit isn't 100% unless you can doctor the fit appropriately.

Zaeobi, oh thank you!! I’m loving my new purchases! The coat is a deep navy with a subtle tartan/plaid pattern :o) (but it does look a but black in photos.) I was going to keep it… but not sure I love it enough as is to keep, just due to the tight fit. The navy dress is actually one piece and can’t be worn as a duster. But I love that as an idea!!!

lisaflex thank you! It’s my new favorite for sure <3

That ruffle top, wow! The earrings & jeans too - agree that fit is everything! The navy dress I'd be inclined to wear like a duster (over something) than a dress just by itself.

So yeah, nodding to what Sarah said about prioritising comfort (depending on whether you have the personality type to power through discomfort for the sake of wears - I know I don't, lol!)

I'd be inclined to keep the slightly tight dressy coat though if you don't have to lift your arms above your head at special occasions & they only last for a few hours anyway lol. BUT a big caveat is whether a black overcoat works well with your dressy clothes palette?

Bijou, you're right about the dresses. The midi navy one is hard for me to let go for some reason. I just adore the cut and style -- save the tiny bit of tightness across upper back. Though it's not tight like the amber dot dress. I'm waffling today about the coat...might return it after all. Thank you for such lovely feedback! I really cannot wait for warmer weather to enjoy all my beautiful things. We just had 3.5 feet of snow last week, with another big storm this weekend. Thankfully it's 50s and blazing sun today.

Star, So far I haven't been bothered by jeans with additional content, so long as it's still got decent amount of cotton. So... we'll see I may yet get that navy polka dot dress in its sister color of scarlet and deal with just a tiny bit of pulling across upper back. The style just hits me in the heart.

Sarah, very good point about abundance <3 I started waffling about the coat this morning. I think I will likely return it and keep space for something better Def keeping jeans, jumpsuit, and ruffle top!!! Those are the home-runs of the this haul!

Angie, I know it's good when I get your KILLER approval So, thank you dearly <3 I think I am sending the coat back. I started waffling this morning and realized, much as I love the style, I want it to fit and feel good. Also sending the dresses back... though the navy dress with reluctance. The upper back is just a smidge tight, nothing compared to the shorter dress. (That one I would rip out the shoulders just reaching for my cup of coffee.) I just love the style of it so much it's hard to let it go and trust for something equally as good LOL!

Send back the dresses and coat. Ymmv, but for me if I but something that's not really quite right, I will keep looking for an X (whatever it is), but then won't allow myself to buy it when I run across a possibly better version because I "already have an X." Worst of both worlds!

Good haul!
1st the jeans - I find any jeans with an additional fiber other than cotton and spandex hot. Not sure if that is an issue for you. I would keep the rest. The jumpsuit is my favorite, absolutely fab; glam and relaxed all at once IYKWIM. Earrings go so well with it. Yes boho glam for sure. Navy polka dot dress is stunning, I would wear a cami under it for more cleavage cover. The amber dress is quite short, you need to be okay with that, otherwise looks good, although I prefer the navy. Love the moschino top, as you say you are going to tuck it anyway so who cares if you don't like the length. The coat - I could live with it being a bit small, it is not obviously so. That is my take :)

The jumpsuit is everything and better not shrink in the wash. You look beautiful in everything, my favourites are:
1. Jumpsuit - JUST WOW!!!
2. Leigh jeans and pink top
3. Moschino ruffle top - great colours and fab with your jeans
4. Coat - it looks great, the fact that it is snug is a shame - but a great price, so I would keep it.
5. Dresses - if they don't fit well, I would send back - it is early in the season and more stock will come through.

Firstly—I’ve been away for a while due to sickness (some kind of flu or cold bug), and an intense chicken situation. Long story short, we may end up culling a hen who has become exceedingly mean to the flock.

Okay… back with a haul! I have a few more things coming.

Big takeaway if you don’t want to read a reaaaalllly long post: cut and fit really is everything. More expensive or heavier fabrics are also worth it. And, trying new pant leg widths that I once avoided turned out to be a huge happy surprise.

I have been craving to feel confident, and even to be a bit seen. Or at least to not feel like I need not hide quite as much. The old cheats sweats still offer comfort, but they don’t make me want to be seen by others.

I started looking again at City Chic, Avenue (same company, less trendy), and Eloquii. I wanted some special items for summer. Clothes to make me feel beautiful. Ran across some great sales and I took the plunge, with my husband’s blessing.

Eloquii: Leigh Jeans, linen-blend jumpsuit, earrings.

Leigh jeans are described as a not-quite-skinny slim cut. The jeans’ cut and line reminds me of a 50s/60s cigarette pant. They just fit remarkably well in the hips. The leg is slightly tapered or straight? Usually straight leg jeans feel sloppy and dowdy on me. But I think the ankle length inseam really really helps these. The denim is medium weight and loaded with spandex and another fiber; only 66% cotton. They are purported to be high stretch. I purposely did not size down; hoping that doesn’t bite me later with sloppy jeans. :/ I didn’t want the jeans to make me look or feel like a sausage.

The jumpsuit is heaven!! It makes me feel 10-20 lbs slimmer and like an Old Hollywood star prancing about. The leg line once again surprises me. It’s a wide leg which I normally skip for fear of looking wider. I feel this wide leg is surprisingly flattering on me. There’s something too about how the waist portion is cut through the lower stomach that glides over the stomach without being sloppy. The only failing is the torso is a good 1-2 inches too short. I could use more length tbh. Even though there is a bit of pulling at the seat and bust, I just don’t care. I won’t be wearing it for chicken chores. For church, play dates, and everything between, I just love it. I couldn’t send it back. The fabric is a medium weight linen-rayon blend. I admit I’m nervous about shrinkage… rayon can be unforgiving even in a cold water wash. So we will see what happens upon washing it. Otherwise, I love everything about it.

Earrings: can you say glam boho! I adore them. There must be 100+ tiny leaves per earring, all cascading down.

Chic City. Two dresses, ruffled top, and coat.

Amber dot wrap dress. Very boho. It’s tight through the shoulders and upper back if I try to stretch and bend forward. I don’t know why since their tops have always fit me well. I ordered the next size up to try, though fear the bust will be huge, as I’ve already got plenty of bust ease in the size 14. I feel a bit shy about the length at both my height and age; it’s a lot of leg. I just love the color and style though.

Navy polka dot maxi dress. Same issue as the previous dress: tight through the upper back and almost too big in the bust. The navy and white print feels too high contrast for me. I adore the sleeves!! I’m not sure if this flatters me as well as the amber boho dress though? A friend said sizing up will likely result in a swimming, flop-open bodice and huge waist on the dress. I agree. So not really sure what to do. I am likely going to return it and try the red polka dot color they offer it in. But no idea on size. The fabric actually has some stretch, so maybe staying with the size 14 would be okay. What do you all think? Keep or pass??

Moschino print top. Worn with new Eloquii jeans. The color and print is perfection!!! I also love the ruffle. The length is too long. It hits me right at my hip-thigh crease. So I will likely always wear it tucked. But I just love it with jeans and I would probably wear it tucked in anyway.

Coat. I bought it on sale for $40, down from $219. This was the only size left. It is my size but I would have preferred to size up. Once again… snug through the shoulders and upper back. The hip area is cut and meant to be worn open like you see in the photo. There’s only enough ease to wear with a chiffon blouse. Having said all of that, I may keep it tbh. I don’t have a dress coat. I love how it looks despite the lack of ease. I normally would pass but I’ve really wanted a dressier coat. For $40 I feel it’s worth trying.

Avenue: pajamas, some $3.99 clearance leggings, not pictured.

Stock photos only. The shorts are smaller than the size chart suggest. They fit but not much ease. They are final sale and CC and Ave do not offer exchanges, period. So I will just wear them and see if they work or if I hate them. I might buy next size larger for ease and donate these. Not sure.

I welcome your honest opinions and feedback as always, my dear Fab friends <3
