I stopped wearing cardigans for awhile and am now finding myself reaching for them again. I think I OD'd and am easing back. They are still quite prevalent at all price points so not passe that I can see.

Oh - and I had a similar experience once and have been the only one allowed to do the laundry (DH has other skills I let him explore that do not ruin my clothes)

Try VC's remedy. I have used it many times and it really works! I wouldn't replace the sweater if you can't save it. I'd wear other things until spring. There will be something even more fabulous next F/W for you.

This happened to a merino wool v-neck sweater of mine too. I went looking around online for answers, and someone (somewhere, can't recall where I read it) suggested soaking the sweater in water with a bunch of hair conditioner added. Don't rinse it out totally, and then stretch the sweater back into place (ie. on an ironing board). It worked for me. I purposely bought some really inexpensive hair conditioner at the local grocery store to try this 'trick'. I bought Alberto V05 Moisture Milks Strawberries & Cream moisturizing conditioner for something like 98 cents I think it was.

I figured it was worth a try, and I'm happy to report that it worked on a regular v-neck pullover that had shrunken to the point where it was almost a cropped sweater. I filled the kitchen sink with cold water, added about a half cup of the cheap conditioner - let it soak. Swished it around a bit. Drained sink, and only very lightly rinsed it out using the spray on the faucet. Transferred sweater onto a bath towel on the kithen counter, rolled it up. Took the towel with the sweater rolled in it downstairs to the laundry - unrolled, pulled it back into shape and let it air-dry on the towel on the ironing board. My sweater went back to 'normal'. (due to my pulling it back into shape while it was wet/damp and softened up with hair conditioner).

I can't promise it will work for a cardigan, but for $1 and minimal effort, it's worth trying.

I hear you - it's pretty hard to say. But if you can't/won't wear it the way it is now, you have nothing to lose by trying

I could try to rewash it but it is really short now. I'm not sure if it would go back to the right shape.

Since Angie has a v-neck Caslon cardigan in her store at the moment, I would say they are still on trend and very wearble. I think it depends if you want the softness and drape of a cardigan, or if you are looking for the structure of a jacket.

Any chance you could rewash the cardi in gentle and cold wash and stretch/reshape?

Hubby shrunk my purple BF cardigan.

It was basically identical to the BF cardigan at nordie's (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/ha.....ts-_-1_2_C),

Now it is just below the waist :(

I wear it alot, it is a fun color as a back drop to pattern mixing stripes, dots, florals, and animal prints. But I'm wondering if it is still in style? Are cardigans still ok or should I be looking for a blazer or swacket?

Y: Stick with the BF cardigan that you know works

N: Cardigans trending out, look for something new
