For my belts I have a swivel hanger with multiple hooks. I can hang it on a rod like a regular hanger or swivel it 90 degrees and hang it over a door (which I prefer).
I did once have a room with no closet and hung a dowel rod from chains from the ceiling, along one wall. The only issue was sunlight faded the shoulders after time because it was not protected from the rays streaming in the room.

For my belts, I have them laid out on a coffee table that supports my full-length mirror. That way I can see my stash

If you do major seasonal rotations, I would plan for that. Your off season storage might be configured the same or might be more utilitarian-- mothproof bins , boot boxes.
For generic ideas, I like storing my shoes above eye level and clothes on 2 levels of rods below. I can " see" things better that way. I am an aggressive hanger , though, even knits. I prefer belts on rows of hooks, again for see- me/ wear- me, but that takes wall or door space. It's worse now with lower- rise pants because belts are longer! I used to be able to reach 2 rows of belts, one above the other, but that is harder now..

I live in a studio condo I have no closets Or wardrobe. I have incorporated everything into my living space kind of like movable or functioning artwork. I would not change a single thing. Maybe more display space for my shoes.

I'm with Suz, I have always adapted to what I had. I bought my current closet when I moved into my flat and I could think about what I wanted to a degree, but I had very exact dimensions I had to keep because there was only one place where the closet could go without taking up too much space. That said, I don't think I would want something much bigger in the future, it helps to keep the wardrobe small (and at the moment I also store bed linen and towels in there). But I would want a deeper one with more hanging space. So maybe go to 1,5m width instead of 1m and add a decent clothes rail. And at the moment I have the highest version IKEA has on offer to make the most of the room I have, but it's not really practical because I can't reach the top without a chair. I don't have my shoes in there either, I always have the ones that are temperature appropriate next to the door and the others stored in boxes in a different place. I also don't have bags and jewelry in it. I think you should think carefully what you want to put in there and what you think would be practical for you before you start planning.

ETA

Just saw your comment. I have my belts loosely rolled in a box in the wardrobe, but I'm sure there are better solutions. I have my two or three most used bags on a hook in a corner of the room, the others are under the bed in a box. As for shoes, I would never want them together with my clothes, maybe I'm strange that way. We always had extra shoe storage in the halway and that's where they belong IMO.

I've always done the same, Suz! This time, though, I think we need to remove a provisory walk-in closet to reopen a hallway because we need the passage from the new kitchen. This means that we are starting from scratch with the wardrobes.

The closet designers/providers can probably help, but I think I know my basic needs already. What I'm very interested in is great solutions for shoe, belt and bag storage.

Ikea hackers(blog). But she is going to have to change the name because Ikea is suing her....alas!!

I have no idea how I would do this, Ingunn. I think in the past I have tended to adapt to whatever was there once I was there. In other words -- try to fit things in with what is available and if nothing fits, then shop for storage. But I will only know what I need based on what it looks like after I start arranging. And I have pretty much done this on intuition.

I do think that those closet design places have formulas for figuring it all out.

I'm moving in a few months, and I think I will have to buy new wardrobe closets for our new apartment. There is no walk in wardrobe. I would love to hear your thoughts on:

How do you measure your needs? What are the genius hacks I should know of?
