1, 3, 5, 6, and 7 seem very straightforward J. Crew-ish to me (so, uh, modern preppy?). 2 is a little more girlish somehow, and 4 seems slightly more boho or something, but still the continuity of the simple shapes, classic colors/denim, pops of color prevail.

Wow! I love all the pieces you just showed! The skirt and pants in red are gorgeous but probably not "first string". Definitely Parisian, Classic, Urban (to me)

I agree Aida. I'd call this "Architectural Preppy." More chic than pure preppy, a little "sloppier" than classic.

The three words really resonates with me, too--maybe it's that it's slightly more specific and focused than two words. I really can't believe how much that crystallizes it for me!!

Lisalou, I just posted a thread about my style statement too and I always thought about finding two words to choose, like in the Style Statement book, but Vildy linked me to a website where they are talking about three words, this one http://colourmuse.blogspot.com.....ement.html. I think it's much easier to think about it outside of certain parameters, I don't know why I didn't before. You just need a catchy phrase to sum it up for yourself and to help you focus, that's all.

I like all suggestions, minimalistic chic, paris chic and modern classic. What about classic Parisian minimalism? The colors seem to fit too, with the exception of these army pants.

I'm a pear too and I love wearing a line skirts like in #2, that definitely works. I think #4 could work too but you'll have to take care that you don't have to much volume on top - so definitely fitted shoulders and then a line or a somewhat fitted waist. The shorter coats in #3 and #6 could be a problematic length, you'll have to see what works best. For me it would be shorter or at least slightly longer. The skinnies are all cropped, was that deliberate? Cropped skinnies wouldn't be the best on me.

These look modern classic to me! Streamlined, simple pieces in classic black, camel, white, and navy.....maybe not the camo pants. Not a lot of OTT jewelry or patterns.

I think the thing to do is to find piece you like and fit them to your body....so cropped skinnies might not work (or they could)....but most of these will work with the right tailoring on a lot of people.

I get the paris chic vibe from this. So skinny jeans, dark wash or black, structured jackets with a waist for your hourgalss, turtlenecks and solids in good quality, A line skirts, ballet flats, I think there was a book in the bookclub that you might try...it was reviewed last month by the group!

I'm new-ish to YLF and not an expert by any means, but I would call this style minimalistic chic! It is so clean cut and simple yet it makes a statement! Neutral turtlenecks (black and navy) and dark coloured pants and jeans feature in a few of these, so maybe your starting point could a crisp button down, a pair of well fitting dark wash jeans and a neutral turtleneck? Bought at the right store, none of these would be too expensive, plus they are basics that will last you ages! Trendier stuff like the red trousers/printed pants can always be added in!

I've been devouring all of Angie's style-defining posts, and have been scouring the web to find silhouettes and looks that I love. I pulled a bunch of pics from one particular website and would love your opinion:

-how would you define this style? (modern classic?)
-what pieces would be essential to starting to build such a wardrobe? (sadly the ones one the website are a little pricy for me)
-bonus question: The model in these pics is obviously very slim--which I am not. How would you adapt these types of looks to fit a pear?

Thanks experts!
