Also, like K. suggested, a metal oxidizer could be used to give an aged patina. I don't think a sharpie will do it. ;)</p> <p>In both cases, the button shank is part of the structure, so they can't be just removed. The metal on the second pair could probably be removed entirely, but would need to be replaced with something because the button is narrower than the strap is. </p>
