I&nbsp;drank water with a chaser of paracetamol. I went to bed at 10pm and came downstairs to watch a TV countdown with my family&nbsp;at about 11:50 after a loud cracker set off by an annoying neighbour&nbsp;woke me. Straight back to bed just after 12&nbsp;with my phone on silent so that I wouldn't be woken by any well meaning messages from people who were out and about. Yep... I wish we were staying home as we usually do, but my husband had an urge to go out tonight so he purchased tickets to the gala at the Chihuly Collection Museum at the foot of the Space Needle -- where all the fireworks are now strapped to the top of the Needle. We will be having champagne and martinis while playing Bubble Talk and other board games with the kids, with various appetizers for dinner. This is one of the few occasions the kids will get to have pop to drink. They likely won't stay up until midnight, though.</p> <p>Some years we have my mum stay with the kids and go to a celebration at a nice hotel where they have a cocktail hour, steak and lobster dinner, a comedy show and then various bands playing and brunch the next day. We have relatives in from France and are having an early supper so we can be home before the partiers get on the roads.
