This type of bootie is really made for crops, culottes, or midis -- it works really well with them. But as you point out, you can also pull slim straight trousers over top of the shaft and then they just look like regular booties, which is also fine.

Angie did a blog post on wearing higher shaft booties: https://youlookfab.com/2015/10.....t-booties/

3style, I teach, and I'd like to be able to wear these both for work and evenings out. I think wearing them with more tonal hosiery is a great idea. I don't have charcoal tights, though I can easily get some, but I do have sparkly tights. With the rest of the outfit subdued, that could be fun. And they'll work with all kinds of pants. I don't currently have cropped pants, but perhaps I'll have to looK at them.

I agree that lace, sheer or mesh tights in nudes, greys or silvers would look great but depending on the dress/skirt, think that black tights could be edgy or fun.

What everyone has said - i agree black tights could be a bit hard to wear but pants of any colour could work. I like them with skirts or pants with some volume in particular.

I don’t have silver but I have black and burgundy high shaft ankle boots and I wear them with skirts and dresses from about mid autumn through to mid spring. I also like them with cropped jeans. I like no gap with cropped pants or jeans.
I think you could get some silvery hose (maybe a lace pair) that would look pretty amazing with those. And you could wear them with bare legs if it’s warm enough. The paler colour makes them more warm weather friendly.
I have a friend who has silver ankle boots and she was wearing them with a midi dress and bare legs the other day and while I was speaking to her on the street a passerby actually stopped to remark on how good they looked. (I had already remarked on them )

Black hose could work, depending on the dress. Also nude and grey... or a colour that matches the dress...

I think grey or silvery tights would be good. Grey for work and silvery/sparkly for evening or social events.

Those are super cool! I have a similar pair that I mainly wear as "party boots" in winter (i.e. if I have to take my snowboots off at someone's door I bring these to put on inside the house -- like slipper booties!) Mine are by Zara.

The high, snug shaft booties are brilliant for wearing with cropped trousers, culottes, and midi skirts in cooler weather. You can absolutely wear them with tights, but you might consider toning your tights to the booties. Sheer charcoal would work, for instance. You can also wear sheer nude hose and show a sliver (or more than a sliver) of skin.

I have some other booties with a high, snug shaft, and here are some ways I have worn them.

I think they would be ok with black tights- it would create a funky contrast. I mean you would have to try it to know for sure though, like everything. I wonder if you could experiment with grey tights too?
I can also picture them with a midi skirt. Particularly a pleated one.
Good luck with it.

I’ve always thought of them as perfect with cropped pants in the cooler months. I’m not sure I’d wear them with dresses, but I don’t wear that many dresses anyway.

I realize I am a little late to the party, but I recently purchased some silver sock boots that come a little past the ankle. They have a slightly higher heel than I generally wear, but are so comfortable in every other respect that I wanted to give them a try.

My only issue is... how do I wear them? First, they strike me as fall/winter boots, maybe because sparkly things strike me as holiday related. I would be fine if they were cooler weather boots, but in the fall and winter I almost never wear a dress without black tights - it is a uniform for me (dress, black tights and statement shoes). Wouldn't silver boots - especially those that are snug against the ankle/leg - look wrong with black tights? I can't seem to find pictures showing it.

I can absolutely wear these with pants and even under leggings with a tunic (but not over the leggings because of the same issue with the black tights).

And I am asking you guys because when I asked about the green Free People booties, you gave me amazing advice, and I have worn those many, many times because of it. I am hoping for the same with these silver boots!
