Solution: wear it under another hooded dickie (dicky? dickey?) & wear those both underneath a jacket, lol! I believe Universal Standard sells one:
https://www.universalstandard......ckey-black

Oh god - I remember these from the 70's. I think I wore one under the neck of a button front huge-collared "blouse" with possibly a vest worn over top all of that. Man, was I cool or what?

We wore dickeys under our band uniforms when I was in junior high. I don't remember them shifting around, but the uniform coats were quite tight, and the dickeys were quite a bit longer than pictured here--probably half again as long. I wonder if the length makes a difference in the shifting.

I remember these! The ones I recall looked slightly wider in the body which could help keep them anchored. People wore them with V necks, I think. I have often wished to see them again but maybe they disappeared because of shifting problems like you describe.

Nice to see you, by the way -- thinking of you and all in China now and hoping you are weathering the confusion.

I suspect that this dicky is too warm for you. Is it long enough so that you can leave a button or two undone. I grew up at a time when dickies were quite popular. Washing out a dicky is so much easier than washing a whole sweater. Try it under a shirt and see if it stays put. You can try pinning it or taping it to your bra in a couple of places. They can work well under a V neck sweater or top. Good luck.

I would treat it as a scarf... or wear it under another sweater. I have a sweater ‘collar’. Not quite a dickie, but that’s how I use it anyways.

Absolutely no tips because if I ever tried to wear that it will somehow come out of the next layer and twist around my neck and strangle me. But if I found one like that I would try it under deep v necks I think.

So, a while back I bought a sweater dickie. It’s sort of like the photo below: just a sort of bib, with a high neck and mine has a partial zip. I thought it would be a great piece to throw under a denim or leather jacket, but now that I've tried to wear it a few times, I am flummoxed. It moves around all the time! And, then if I take my jacket off it looks odd.

I think I need to wear it under a shirt, to keep it in place? But it’s such a heavy knit, I feel it would look strange as a bottom layer. Also, then it’s kind of stifling, like a scarf that you can never take off.

I feel like I’m missing something. A sweater vest or a scarf would seem much easier to wear. Any tips??
