What Diana said. Olive is gorgeous with pink and orange. I also like it with navy and optical white.

The new olive pants look wonderful, Museum Gal. I'm glad they were comfortable. xo

Wow, lots of suggestions, thank you everyone. The pants were sooooo comfy to wear yesterday that I would kept them even if the consensus had been eeeewwwwww, are you crazy?! The consensus seems to be that they are a true neutral - maybe I should
just think of them as another pair of (blue) jeans. I can't wait to try all the
awesome combos you have suggested.

This is clearly an example of one woman's boring being another woman's classy. See, I think that all-neutral outfits are fab. What can I say? ;-)

I have a pair of olive skinnies that are among my favourite items of clothing (by olive, we mean army green, right?). I wear them with black, heather grey, heather charcoal, navy, light blue, or white. If you absolutely must have bright colour, they also go great with hot pink.

In my opinion, they don't go with lavender, purple, burgundy, mustard, kelly green, red, pale pink, peach, acid green, or orange.

They might go with bright yellow.

When I'm having trouble putting together outfits with a new, differently coloured, item, I go to Design Seeds and their search palette feature. Here are a few that use a colour close to olive green and brighter colours since that's what you prefer near your face:
http://design-seeds.com/index......fting-hues
http://design-seeds.com/index......y-spectrum
http://design-seeds.com/index......r-aquarium
http://design-seeds.com/index......oom-tones1
http://design-seeds.com/index......wing-bloom
http://design-seeds.com/index......ora-color2
http://design-seeds.com/index......rket-color
http://design-seeds.com/index......ra-brights
http://design-seeds.com/index......rot-color1

I really like the outfit with the plaid shirt and the first two as well (the way you've buttoned the button downs is so flattering!), but I'm drawn to muted colour schemes. hehe The pics in 3 aren't really a fair comparison since your hair is different & your face is at a different angle & they're not taken in the same place (judging from the background) so the light was probably different, but I'll take your word for it that brights are better for you! ;D

I totally agree with JG that you could treat the olive pants as an absolute neutral and wear them with most colours... red and burgundy immediately spring to mind, but I could see it working with lots of other colours. And I just wanted to say that you have such a pretty, friendly face!

I just got a pair of olive pants too--wore them only once so far. I wore them with a burgundy top, and I thought the color combo was really nice.

I hadn't considered leopard, per JG. I'll have to give that a try!

I second the stripes! My last WIW was olive jeans with a navy and cream striped top and I loved that combination:

I like your plaid shirt with the olive pants!

I also plan to wear my olive jeans with blue chambray or denim, and with a gray tee or gray sweatshirt. And with black. You can see I'm not super adventuresome but these color combinations would make me happy!

What would I wear with olive pants? Tops in rust, orange, pink, salmon, tomato, plum, burgundy, orchid, periwinkle, french blue, bright navy, purple, fuchsia, melon, citron, mint, aqua, camel, gold, cream, light grey, cognac, or black. Striped tees or plaid shirts. Leopard print. I love olive and consider it a neutral. My olive clothes are all workhorses.

I love wearing my olive skinnies with a navy and white printed top. I also love them with fuchsia, reds, hot pink, and optic whites. Soft neutrals look great on other people, but I avoid them for exactly the same reason--they deaden me.

Yesterday I went on a mission - find some non-denim pants. I came home with a pair of olive pants and burgundy skinnies. I haven't the faintest idea what to do with either of them. Today let's focus on the olive pants. They are wonderfully comfy, and I like the way they fit but I was unable to come up with an outfit that I liked. Now most of my wardrobe is down in my apartment, and I'm up at our little house on the prairie for the week, so I was limited in what I had on hand to work with, but I felt these were all more or less a snoozefest.

1) I tried to stay with the soft neutral palette, but jeez these are so boring I'm falling asleep typing this.
2) Then I remember that my beloved navy is a neutral also, and these are a little better - the center one isn't half bad - but nothing to get excited about.
3) And here's an illustration of why soft neutrals near my face are a bad idea - they completely wash me out. Navy, on the other hand, totally brightens my complexion.

Help me Fabbers. What would you wear with olive trousers?
