Personally I think the lace up ankle boots are the most eh, and not sure about having three different versions.
Decided to go for the most awkward one. Here's some suggestions for the loafers. Though that particular style isn't what is trending right now, it's the rounded and pointy toes. But if the rest of your outfit is current they may work.
Can you expose your ankles at work?

I like them all. The OTK boots are great with ponte leggings and skinnies in winter. Pair with short jacket or long coat - both work

#2 looks comfy and casual - good with straight jeans rolled up or even BF jeans.

#3 are very cool and remind me of hiking boots. I would wear boots like that with everything in winter ----- warm jogger pants, wool trousers, jeans, or skirts with warm tights.

#4 are an acquired taste. They remind me of dress shoes...and I have worn something very similar years back with formal dress pants. They are not trendy or current, but treat them like low heeled loafers.

Loving all the hints, ladies! Thanks so much for your honest replies. They are very helpful and I'll definitely be posting some pictures in the future as I attempt to learn what to wear this fall and winter.

What Janet said. For wearing with skirts the boots look a little roomy, but that could change if you're tucking skinny jeans in. I am not a tall boot or skinny jean person so take that FWIW.
I have to wear flat shoes a lot with trousers and skirts, and I find this square toe, square-cut vamp hard to pull off. It may be worse at my age, since whether fair or not, there are some things that look "what's old is new" on younger people but just "old hat" on older ones. If you've only just started looking for loafers or slipper flats you might look around some more. But, if you love them then you can for sure work it out.

The boots in #1 look pretty roomy -- have you tried them on with pants tucked in? I really like #2 -- I'd try them with rolled straight or boyfriend jeans. I confess, I'm not much of a fan of #4, myself -- I think the very square toe puts me off.

I like 4 - the conservative work shoe for me : ) I wear with trousers and sheer knee hi hose. Not an exciting styling, but makes me feel professional.

OTK boots look good with slim/skinny pants tucked in but also with shorter dresses and tights. I find the second booties to be casual and would probably wear them with jeans. It is almost bed time so that is all I have for now.

Hi Beth, on the OTK boots, thanks for responding to my post. I am in my 40s and agonised over them but feel happy with them now. If you look at cheryles post today on burgundy jeans, you will see she is wearing hers with skinnies. Viva also posted a thread recently about OTKs and lots of forum members posted ideas and pics. I would link to it but I am on my phone.
Your OTKs look a little big around the knee but that may just be a trick of the camera angle. If you want to wear them with jeans you will need a little extra room to tuck the jeans in in any case. So that's for you to decide.
The second boots I would wear with rolled or scrunched jeans. The third look a little wider in the calf, so you may want to tuck in there.

Did some shoe shopping with my daughter this weekend (love that we wear about the same size). Purchases are below and now I'm wondering how do I wear these? I mostly wear pants, but also maxi skirts. We have to have legs covered at work (for safety, not modesty), but I would occasionally do a shorter skirt/dress especially for a night out with hubby.

1. Over the knee boots, black, "leather" front, suede backs. I'm not sure if I'll ever wear these especially because I think my daughter will bang them up too much. Can I wear these (I'm 46)?

2. Love these. Skinny pants cuffed to the top? Longer pants with just the shoes peaking out?

3. Loved them so much we bought them in black and brown.

4. For me, my 13yo just wrinkled up her nose. That almost 1" heel is pretty high for me...LOL! Pants? Skirts? Hose? Tights?

Any suggestions are welcome. I'm off to Pinterest to find some options.
