I'm very picky about what I invest in and what I am cheap with. I will not spend more than $20 on a knit top. Most of the time I won't even spend more than $15. But I will spend well over $100 for comfy shoes.

Normally I would not spend more than $40 on a dress, but since I am really starting from the ground up and I want the dresses I buy to last at least two summers, I am being more relaxed than usual. Thankfully I have a source of income to do that now.

Consigning/selling clothes that I don't wear and using the profits for new items. Today I consigned 23 items. I am guessing I will make at the VERY least $150 from those items (I get 50% of the sale price and all the items were really nice). I can buy 2 or 3 FAB items that I will love with that money, instead of having 23 items that I haven't worn in a year.

If you're visiting a city, check the mall visitor center (or their website) to see if they offer discount coupon books for free to out-of-towners. There are usually food coupons and % off when you spend a certain amount at a lot of the stores. If you are a AAA (American Automobile Association) member, you can often times get a coupon book at most malls and outlets.

Also AAA members get discounts at restaurants and public venues but they hardly advertised it. You just have to ask before you order or by your ticket if they give AAA discounts. (I never remember to check the AAA website so I always just ask the employee.)

Those Entertainment Books are really worth it:
http://www.entertainment.com/d.....=GOOGLE_R2
I've also found some clothing store coupons in there for places like Fashion Bug, Lane Bryant, etc.

I've found that only using half a dryer sheet works just as well as using a full sheet.

An old bit of hosiery works great for getting out deodorant marks on an LBD.

Instead of bringing a perfume bottle with me on trips, I just stash some of those perfume samples from magazines. I can wear a different scent a day and no worries about spills! : )

I'm all about sales, and I can't believe I'm just now learning about price adjustments. Many stores offer price adjustments if the item goes on sale within a week or two of you buying it - you just need to take in your receipt and sometimes the item you bought, and they'll refund the difference. I got almost $20 back last week because the shoes I bought the week before went on clearance!

Ebates helps with my online shopping too. It's fun to get that little check in the mail every once in a while. And right now they're offering 11 percent back at many stores in celebration of their 11th birthday!

Anne - hysterical, I just told my husband this morning that I don't want to help our parents ( they are elderly ) with anything financially because I want to shop more !

; )

I ( a bit like B ) take really good care of my stuff. I store everything inside out so that it doesn't look rubbed - I also launder this way.

These tips are great ! Thank you all !

I tend to be like Ruth with how I do shop.

Unfortunately, I am not a patient shopper, I want to find it and get out of the store ASAP, so I don't do well at thrifting and coupons. That is actually a goal for me. So many ladies on this site are such good shoppers and look fabulous for pennies on the dollar. It has really inspired me.

Good question.

I just told my husband last night that we need to move and downsize so we have more money for things like fabulous new clothing. :)

Somehow, I don't think that's a budget-friendly measure you (or my husband) had in mind. Ha!

I'm a bargain shopper- coupons, clearance, outlets, ebay, thrift stores, off season- you name it.
I just got a practicality brand new pair of $180 David Kahn jeans off ebay for about $20 shipped. I also think that thinking in terms of your wardrobe as a whole when you shop tends to stretch your dollars. If you can pick out a set of neutrals and colors to base your wardrobe around, then pieces are more likely to be mixed and matched.

buy less, but buy better. A closet full of "almost right" sends me shopping all the time. But if it is perfect I feel satisfied.

I invest in some basic pieces, like pencil skirt, white shirt, suits, bags (that I can use for many seasons) and buy less expensive trendy pieces at H&M that I can mix and create a lot of looks.

The shoes tip is a good one! The portuguese sidewalks ruin all my heels

Hi
Everyone needs to stress the budget here and there. So mine is:
-	All using all my sit-down shoes at work. I don’t do a lot of walking. I also have another pair in my car just in case. All this shoes where getting dust and now are put to work, before they went out of style
Now , yours!
