Great topic, Nicole!
I have been doing something similar with my Pinterest boards. I started out pinning everything that caught my eye. I then moved the looks that I could replicate from my own closet to a board I named "Copy That!". It has given me lots of ideas for combinations I might not have thought of on my own. I went back and analysed the pins that remained in the original Fashion board to determine what looks I kept pinning again and again and thought about whether or not I wanted to add those looks to my closet. For example I had been thinking that destroyed denim was "too young" for me but, after really looking at my pins, I realized that I was liking the contrast of faded ripped jeans with dressier tops and accessories and bought myself a pair last week.

Great take, yet totally your own Nicole. I think about this from time to time, trying to pin down what I do to make outfits me. Without success. Although I do think I always put a funky RachyLou spin on everything somehow.

Whether it comes from a friend, a store display, Pinterest, or even our own closet. Inspiration for an outfit can be found just about anywhere. However, sometimes when I see something I would like to wear, I just don’t know how to make it my own. So with that I have come up with a few tips on how to recreate an outfit that fits your style.

Choose an inspiration

Inspect your inspiration

Don’t go out and buy every single piece

Focus on either shape or color

Use the inspiration for a starting point

An example of me using these types was in this previous post. I wear my army jacket a lot and wanted to wear it in a new fresh way. So I looked through pInterest and found an outfit by blair from atlantic pacific. I knew that I had items in my closet that I could re imagine my army jacket and recreate this outfit to work for me.

Check out the whole post here:
http://www.nicole-kelly.com/20.....-have.html

Whats your thoughts on recreating an outfit?

XoXo,
Nicole
