I did this technique nearly 20 years ago and made a pillow and a Christmas tree skirt from velvet. You need a high rayon content velvet. I used rubber stamps for the trees skirt and a Celtic bas-relief tile made of some kind of resin for the pillow. They turned out great.I still have the tree skirt. The first photo shows that there is no trace in the other side of the flap, so it cannot be embroidery, which we can see stitchs in both sides. I think that the yellow one is painted/ drew but how can paint such tiny details like that. Is that Shibori dyeing?   I think that the red velvet in the lower part in the shape of lotus and leaves applies acid etching like Devore as you said . After do a research on google, I find that I have to use a velvet etching cream to apply the technique but I can not have, Can I use other ways or can I make the cream?
