I just use the ones with cardboard tubes. Most of my pants are not even worn in summer, and they always look fine in the fall when I bring them back into service.

The advantage I find is the tube is big enough to prevent creases. However I am careful to position them without any wrinkles or folds, or if wanting to maintain the front and back crease, hang them "sideways" and keep the creases exactly in place.

The tube generally has a little bit of stickiness that holds the fabric from slipping. In fact, when the stickiness wears off, I spray them lightly with a spray adhesive and it is renewed.

Right now I have my pants folded over thick plastic hangers to avoid creases. I'd like to order pants hangers like the ones posted by Laura (rhubarbgirl).

Well I just re-use the plastic clip hangers that I get from the stores. They don't seem to make creases but I hang my pants like they do at the store. I put one clip on the back side and the other clip near the button. I push in the button a bit first to make it fit on the hanger better.

Hangers with clips here too! I don't notice any dents but I wear belts with them anyway. I am using these kinds:

http://www.supplierlist.com/pr.....r_Suit.htm

Folding creates creases which I cannot stand.

I like hangers with clips...the clips have to be movable so I can move them close enough together to hang pants by the cuffs. ( bottoms.). Hanging them this way lets the weight of the garment keep wrinkles away and keeps the center creases in. Most, if not all, of my dress pants are wool, so wrinkles usually come right out. I never get dents from the clips.

Sarah, mine have swinging arms, yes. And they also have a sort of rubberized padding. So it helps prevent creases.

I love the ones Gaylene posted, too.

Suz, do those arms swing out? I have something like that, but it's very inconvenient to get the pairs underneath out. But the arms don't swing out.

Diana, I was thinking about just sticking with the hangers from the cleaners.

Gaylene, I'm thinking those look like a great option. Thanks!

I fold them over the hanger. I have the specialized ones that only connect to the top on one side, so they're easy to pull items on and off. Regular hangers are too fiddly to pull the pants on and off, and I don't like using clips on pants.

ETA: similar to the image below.

I've always used the foam-padded, chrome hangers. No creases or dents, and even silky pants stay put.

I just fold mine over the hanger bar but like you mention it does leave creases in some fabrics.

My husband (who wears dress trousers a lot more often than I) just keeps them on the hangers from the dry cleaner. You know, the wire ones with the cardboard tube on the bar. The tube seems to prevent a crease from forming. But since he wears them often, his pants also don't hang on the hanger for months the way mine sometimes do!

I am not thrilled with my options. I have hangers like #1 and #2. With #1, I usually move the clips closer to each other and hang from the bottoms vs. the waistband. I don't usually notice dents.

For #2 -- the pants tend not to crease if I make sure they are not stuffed on there too tight. I also watch which fabrics go on there. The really crease-prone won't go on that kind of hanger as well.

Mr. Suz has the ones like #3 and he seems to like them. They do take up more room in the closet, which is why I continue to use the first versions.

I'm wondering how you all hang trousers in your closet. I'm not very happy with the two types of "trouser" hangers I currently have in my closet - one type tends to be "slippery" (the trousers slip out of them) and the other type leaves "dents" in the waistband from the clippy things.

Any suggestions? Do you hang them from the leg? The waist? Do you fold them over a hanger (I don't like this very much as it leaves a crease)? Do you have a type of hanger you like?

thanks!
