I have a couple of suit type jackets of an unknown age in my closet that have been earmarked as "business" wear, and since they fit, I have kept them. However, my understanding of "fit" for many years has been "I can button it and it isn't too short in the arms" with little thought as to whether it is flattering or a dated style. But I also don't think of them as being particularly exciting, which probably means they should go but I don't want to be too hasty if they are acceptable.

Are there some guidelines about what to look for, including stance, lapel size and shape, whether the bottom is square or rounded, etc?

I'll try and post some pics later, when I've got my closet project finished.
