Thanks, Inge. I realized that once I got out of this thread and saw the same exact junk posted on other threads. I know this forum is much too friendly for anything like that.

I looked through my wardrobe last night, and I have more than ten pairs of going-out shorts. I'd really like to know what kind of tops would go with mid-thigh to mid-knee shorts, if you're an inverted triangle?

You aren't that odd. Your measurements are kinda similar to mine: 5'1" with shoulders 39", bust 35", waist 30", hips 35". You sound like an inverted triangle. Heleene's link should help you. Once you know what types of tops to look for, it will help narrow down the shopping options. Summer dresses will be great, but spaghetti straps or cap sleeves wouldn't be the best options.

I'm having a difficult time looking for summer or spring clothes for inverted triangles. It's frustrating, really, especially when you're a short inverted triangle attempting to make sense of the contradictory suggestions people have.

Hi Jeanie,
Yes, it is Heleen From the numbers I would agree about the inverted triangle, but a picture (in a legging/tights and a tight top or your underwear if you are brave) will give much more information as you are a 3D person. You are saying you are a 'strange inverted triangle', so I suppose you have a secondary body type or some other variation.

Well, the easiest thing to wear in hot summer months might be a dress. You'd choose styles depending on whether you're short-waisted (streamlined empire-waisted styles would look good provided the neckline is not too high, or, with your longer legs, you could try the current drop-waisted styles too) or long-waisted (try a peplum style?), and a wrap dress suits most shapes and sizes. Straight sheath styles usually look great on strong shoulders too.

If you prefer skirts, your longer legs and shoulder width will let you wear midis with ease, I think. Longer walking shorts and tapered cropped pants that end just above the calf should work too. With your IT shape, you should be able to carry off more voluminous styles like slouchy pants too.

Keep your tops unfussy at the shoulder and neckline, and avoid puffy sleeves or gathers at the shoulders. Raglans often work very well on strong shoulders. If you like to emphasize your shoulders, military detailing near the shoulder or yoke like epaulettes might be interesting in jackets. Avoid garments that swing too dramatically away from the shoulder, as in your case it might mean an overwhelming amount of fabric. Look instead for tops that fit through the bust and then flare, if you like a looser silhouette. Structured, tailored shirts can be harder to fit on an IT, so look for those with princess seaming or darts or gathers under the bust; OR choose a soft fabric that drapes well (silks and chiffons typically do).

I'm sure the other ladies will chime in with more ideas. Meanwhile, it would really help if you can tell us a little about what you normally wear or would like to wear.

It's really hot where so live, and I'd like to find some nice summer clothes (especially shorts!) I'm averse to the idea of wearing sleeveless things, so that narrows it down.

Hi Jeanie! Welcome to YLF's forum. Tell me, what precisely makes you call your shape odd? I'm not seeing anything spectacularly weird here at all! As for your legs/torso ratio, I'd call that great luck of the draw to have long legs!

Seriously, though, you're measurements are somewhat similar to my own, though I'm shorter still and stouter too. I'm 4'10, shoulders 39, bust 36.5, waist 30 (I have apple tendencies, which you can ignore), hips 35. So! What exactly do you find difficult about dressing your body? Any particular garments or proportions that are harder to deal with? Or particular areas you want to play up or play down? We can certainly offer ideas, I think.

Hello, HeleenH! Is it Heleen, then?

I was very much wrong in my leg-to-torso measurements. I've righted the details above. I think I can convert the information to the SI units.

Hi Jeanie! Welcome to the forum. I am really bad interpreting inches, but we are quite similar in size (I am 1.58 m). There are plenty of other short women here so you can get loads of inspiration.
Even without a picture I can tell you you do not have a strange body. You have your body and with your imagination and some help from YLF you will be able to dress it nicely.
Does 37-24 mean you have super long legs? Congratulations!

Hello, first-time poster over here! Nice to meet all of you.

So. I'm a short, teenage Pacific-Islander who wats to know how to dress for my shape (and size). I am 5"1 (1.55 m), weighing about 128 lbs (58.2 kg). After spending about two hours, armed with my trusty tape measure and portable Internet-surfing device, I have guessed that I am a strange sort of inverted triangle.

I have my measurements right here, if they'd help: shoulders, 38 inches (96.5 cm); bust, 36.5 inches (92.7 cm); (natural) waistline, 28.5 inches (72.4 cm); hips, 35 inches (89 cm).

I am in no way athletic or muscular.

EDIT: I used this (http://ladyshortlegs.blogspot......s.html?m=1), and apparently, my leg-to-torso ratio is 29-32 (73.7 cm to 81.3 cm).
