Reinforcing my favorites of DonnaF's suggestions, the white jeans and leather pants and such a good point that cotton or linen scarves would casual-ize blazers too.

As another blazer wearer I agree with all the suggestions….this summer I have been outside a lot and have paired my blazers with a baseball cap, linen tank top, and Ecco Soft Seven sneakers…..which makes my look more casual but maybe keeps it more refined than if I used large sneaks. I admit that recently on a hot rainy day, I wore my waterproof Birkies with a linen blazer and cutoff Bermuda length Jean shorts….most of my appointments were remote….. :-)

eta: I just noticed Jenava’s picture is taken with Birkies!

Hi Katerina; I think of your look as more polished and refined than anyone else on YLF. Thus, I am thinking that some of the great suggestions will make you feel very very uncomfortable and not at all like yourself.

Would you consider white jeans in warmer weather and leather pants in winter? How about cotton or linen scarves instead of silk? Sweaters including sweater tanks and turtlenecks underneath. And of course polo shirts per Angie.

Just be you! We can’t have you going American on us.

One thing I notice is in all the inspiration pics the blazers are unbuttoned. In your pics of yours they are buttoned. Do you button them for formal wear?
I am also not a fan of jeans ( own one pair now, from 2017) and don’t tuck tops. I like ponte pants a lot which can also be casual as well as dressy. I wore a tweed jacket with some yesterday and with an untucked top and dark sneakers. Was happy with my look.

Excellent suggestions thus far! My two cents: I would play around with proportions (e.g., cropped and/or voluminous pants, longer tops underneath, skirts of varying lengths and shapes), prints (e.g., striped top underneath, graphic t-shirt, plaid or patterned pants), unusual color combos, scarves and other accessories, and interesting footwear (e.g., rugged boots or big sneakers like you've got).

(I was all set to add a bunch of inspiration pics but for some reason I'm not able to...will try later :).

Hi Katerina,
I don't know if this would be casual enough for you, but I plan to wear wool hip-length blazers with full midi skirts and flat boots this winter. I will likely style this with a fitted tee or turtleneck under.

For warmer weather, I typically wear longer jackets with wide leg casual trousers or jeans and Birkenstocks or clogs. I happen to have just purchased 2 new blazers, so I'll include the longer one here. I was just trying this on over what I already had on but I rather liked how it looked.

Adding, I also got a shorter wool jacket that I likely will wear with a full skirt rather than trousers, because I prefer that silhouette with a shorter jacket. You can see I'm wearing a casual button down blouse under it with jeans. This works too, but not as well, IMO.

The Cat, thanks for the Wiki link. I had a hard time articulating how what I was looking for was a special kind of Spangenschuh.

Synne, that might be the key—“school girl” and then let their brains fill in thst the shoes have a strap (“Spangen”)

I wore my suit yesterday, yesterday, Katerina. A burgundy and navy pinstripe. I styled it with a navy polo shirt (buttoned to the top), with tomato red loafers, bag and belt. See FINDS below for the exact items.

I LOVED wearing my suit casually! And really want another suit. I find the combination sooo comfy, polished, pulled together, and very 2021. My suit fits on the fluid side of tailored. NOT tight. It makes all the comfortable difference.

Katerina, you have a gorgeous collection of blazers! It will be so fun to figure out ways to casualize them.

I tend to casualize mine with jeans (sorry!) -- but that is not my only go-to. For bottoms you can also try joggers, cotton chinos, linen pants, etc. -- as others have already mentioned. Even shorts! Another option is suit pants or other trousers worn casually. I have a black watch suit that I wear with cuffs rolled and sleeves scrunched to casualize it -- see below.

As others have stated, graphic tees or casual button front shirts or tanks or turtlenecks are good bets.

Your ideas for more casual bags are also good -- backpacks, hobos, crossbody bags are my go-tos.

White sneakers or black ones with a white sole. Lug soled boots or other casual booties/ boots for cooler temps. Hi-top sneakers.

Some of these looks are admittedly with jeans but there are also other options shown.

I would wear the blazers with graphic tees or knitted tanks. For bottoms, I would wear jeans, especially ones with a raw hem.

About finding jeans...many people on the forum who don't tuck do a semituck instead, which is very flattering. If you are wearing a T-shirt, you could also knot it at the waist, which is more forgiving than a tuck.

Agree with others, a pair of white sneakers works so great with a suit or with a blazer. I also like the idea of adding colorful sneakers, like cobalt or red. Cropped pants with sneakers give a casual look.
I like to wear a thin merino or cashmere t-shirt, sometimes they look better than jersey t-shirts.
I’m not a fan of sports wear like real joggers but I love the style, my joggers are made of woven cloth.

With @kkards, Joggers! Even if you just swapped out your flats for a basic sneaker, it will immediately casualize the outfit. Add a thin hoodie and a hip purse and you’re set.

Or just take you regular blazer outfit and swap the scarf for a chunky sweater tied around your neck.

You have a wonderful blazer collection; they are integral to your style. I’m nodding my head along with the good suggestions you’re getting here, especially about wearing a more casual shirt or sneakers to dress down your blazer outfits. I think I would look for a different style of footwear than the black ones in your post, though. And, along with other Fabbers, I love your clogs!

Side question to the Cat: you mentioned Mary Janes. Do you know a German word for them? I was surprised in shoe stores that the phrase wasn’t recognized. When I googled and showed them the images that came up, they zipped past the ones I’d call Mary Janes, that have a little bit of sass that I can’t define, and went straight to the one picture that came up every time (I did this in a couple stores). It was a very flat shoe, like a ballerina. It did have that strap, but somehow the gestalt was more “don’t want my shoe to fall off” than the youthful, fun edge of a Mary Jane. When I searched for translations, that other meaning of Mary Jane, marajuana, was all I got. So if you know a German or other Germanic language word for them, please tell me!

I like blazers even though I have no actual need for them in my casual life. I like the structure they bring to an outfit. I’ll be interested to see what you come up with. Lisa’s styling ideas are great and far outdo my usual approach of blazer + tee + jeans! I also like lightweight hoodies under blazers, and the Veronica Bear dickey style works well for me for that reason. But I think I have four blazers and definitely need to not buy more, despite my temptation when I see a really good one.

Right now I’m loving the idea of a blazer and a jogger style pant.
For warmer weather a knit top or tee, and sneakers. For cooler weather a sweater and a boot.
But i also like a simple cotton or linen pant with a blazer. Again I’d keep the layer under the blazer more casual, but also i think the pattern on the light pants, and the rolled hem on both help these examples read more casual

For me personally, I’m not a fan of the all black sneaker, and this maybe because I’m in the US, but all black reads as a service industry shoe, which has its place, but isn’t the look i think you are aiming for.
The clogs, on the other hand, are TDF!

I've often worn blazers with jeans (dark boot cut or straight) for casual Fridays/weekends in cold weather. Always with dressier shoes. To me they dress up the jeans enough for my comfort level.
I'd probably try them with dressy joggers or linen wide leg pants too.
Personally I don't like wearing more than 1 casual piece per outfit, unless doing something active.

What a gorgeous collection of blazers, Katerina!

I, too, like to wear blazers in many settings. I dress them down with either tees , tank tops or turtlenecks, depending on temperatures.

If you don't like jeans, what about chinos or other cotton pants?

In summer, I often wear my blazers with white jeans or long (midi or ankle-length) thin wrap-around skirts or long simple tank dresses or palazzo pants. Printed skirts/dresses/pants often look more fun and relaxed than solid ones. I wear these summer outfits with low sandals (e.g. Birks) or sneakers in light colors or loafers or low Mary Janes.

Blazer girl checking in. Jeans are a given. Skinnies for long or oversized boyfriend blazers. Bootcuts for cropped jackets. Jeans are blue, black, gray or white. Funky embellished belts. Nili Lotsn French military pants. Tanks, sleeveless sweaters (JCrew Jackie) mostly. I have a lot of VB jackets so I swap out dickies but a light hoodie is great. I also posted on the L’agence Jamie cardigans which are spectacular for layering. For shoes booties and more booties. EF splash. Blondo and PG Chelsea. Even hiking boots are great to dress it down. Ariat extreme works well. I wear a blazer with everything. I’m sure I’ll find a way to wear them to bed!!

Do you normally have a sporty style? If so, sneaks might work. But if you don’t have a sporty style you may find other casual shoes a more natural fit. Angie flagged some fun loafers in her NAS post. If jeans are a stretch, maybe linen pants would work? A couple of pairs in neutral colors would tie in with your jacket.
