KD, you are sweet to say so, but my legs are neither long nor lithe. I am surprised YOU have this ffit issue!

I will have to post some examples when I have time for such an exercise.

Now that you mention it, I guess I have that issue with one pair of skinnies, my newer pair, not so much. I'm wondering if it's just the "aging" process of the jeans because the newer pair doesn't do this, hmmmmm

Alaskagirl, I must admit, I was a bit surprised that you had this complaint. I thought with your long and lithe legs you must surely be immune to this. Well apparently not, so this teaches me it has nothing to do with the legs per say, which is what I had thought all my life. I have round thighs too, like MNsara. But it seems it's more a question of room in the rear of the pants.
Just for the kicks, next time you pass a Talbot go and try their slim fit jeans. I guess other higher end jeans would look good too, but today, I went there and was so amazed at the fit difference, especially at the crotchety issue eradication.

OMG, MNsara! Why did I not just google "Why do my pants pull across my crotch?"! These articles are so wonderful and the issues they address - it's so reassuring to see that I'm not a mental case (well, that's questionable but at least in these issues).

Although the explanation is confusing in my case - it seems to be a combination of rise and too much booty for the cut. Which iis hardly my fit issue!

Okay, at least I'm not totally alone here! I'm wondering if it is the problem of too much fabric... because I don't have a real booty, I'm not filling out all the fabric in the hip area, so it bunches along my thighs.

It could be the rise too, but the ones I tried on recently actually had a fairly high rise...

Problems, problems!

As I started to buy some more, er, fitted jeans I am having or bordering on having this problem. I think it is a function of fit and fabrication with the lycra and especially any poly blend with the cotton. The very tops of my thighs are a bit chubby and so even with a recent pair of "trouser" jeans, that are not at all skinny but do fit kind of snugly through the hips, they are tighter in the very upper thigh than would be ideal.

My conclusion is that it may be hard to get the "jean fit" and a truly fall-from the hip slightly looser upper thigh fit--even "curvy" may not do it. I have a pair of EB jeans that somehow do skim just perfectly but they need a belt to hold them in place, although I could take them to be altered and see if that helps--so not truly BF but not butt-hugging.

I also was feeling a bit timid about tucking or otherwise emphasizing the thigh-torso junction. I think any new jeans I buy will have to be even more trouser-like. I know that's not the same thing for you wearing skinnies.

I don't know how much of this crease is "acceptable," but I know it doesn't take much for me to feel self-conscious.

Yes!!! Me too!!! And I turned down a nice skinnies with pleather pannels for this exact reason. Maybe they are too tight.

Just tried on a real nice higher end pair of jeans this morning and started off with a pair too tight: crotchety thing happening. Tried one size up, magic! Everything in its place. Except I do need a belt, but not to hold the pants in place, simply to cinch the waist slightly. What a difference to wear a real, cute, flattering skinny!

My conclusion: one size up is needed. If one size up looks ugly, it's because the pants are ugly, look for something of better quality or better fit.

I have crotchedy issues with almost all pants unless I hold up the front center waistband all day. . . I think my round thighs contribute to it, but that wouldn't be your problem.

Anyway, I had saved these links for when I get around to worrying about it:

http://www.insideoutstyleblog......h-fit.html

I think that's a product of hiking up a too low rise for you.

ETA: The hiking up is usually our attempt to tuck in the love handles. I used to have this problem before I found out that my best bet is to have a less tight waist and a somewhat mid to low rise.

Yes, this definitely happens to me because i have round thighs. I just figure that when I'm moving and standing it's not really noticeable (as long as everything else fits properly).

I am noticing that most of my skinnies (which I only wear with longer tops) seem to do this thing where I have a line right in the joint of my legs and torso - not the dreaded camel toe, but almost so my leg looks segmented a la Barbie doll. Like a thigh wedgie, maybe?

Does this happen to anyone else? Is it a fit issue or just an inevitability with skinny jeans? My bootcuts don't do this, and obviously neither do BFs. I'd like to try a half tuck with skinnies and boots, but fear the thigh wedgie!
