I'm stalking clutches, will update that later, but in the meantime:

Has anyone seen this scarf in the wild?

http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....id=8896060

It appears to be just like the Sole Society scarf Angie recommended? I am wondering which one would be better for me, especially size wise, but also softness, and color too.

(Also I've got bad experience with SS brand shoes)

Jennifer, the wrap is DIVINE. Saw it in person, and will be coming home with the ink blue soon. It's a top pick.

Wear pearls AND the wrap. When you take off the wrap - you will have the pearls to pull together the look.

Love the idea of a millennial pink clutch.

I totally do that with the sleeves, yes. I've actually only bought one item with this type of sleeve and it is a top I likely wouldn't keep anyway (not expensive) but if it were a dress i would do exactly as you did.

And there might be another colour that could work - garnet might work or even the right chocolate brown, it is hard to tell online.

Angie one last question or two... if I got that sole society wrap, would I still need pearls? I'm thinking it's either/or... ? And how do I incorporate the wrap with a winter coat? I'd normally wear my black wool Burberry trench, as I still have yet to find a formal coat that is warm enough for our winters. I've got to be practical coat wise. Could that wrap be worn over my Burberry trench? Or would I be carrying it in a bag, then topping it on after checking my coat? (yet another reason I should get a Neo??)

Angie, that faux fur wrap is gorgeous!!!! I've just had bad luck with Sole Society shoes. Any other options? And what do you think for a clutch? Hmm... maybe a "millennial pink" leather clutch"?

Suz, love your ideas and I did try on a pair of high shaft booties in a pinkish suede taupe this past weekend (did not buy) that now that I think of it... could probably work for dressing down. I agree that the sleeves will limit toppers. But, every time I invest in these sort of sleeve items, I do a test in the dressing room: would this work down the road if these fancy sleeves suddenly go out of style, and I took this to a tailor to have the fussy sleeve chopped out to make an elbow sleeve garment? This one totally passes that test! (Am I the only one that does this calculation in the dressing room?)

Love the dress, Jennifer! And I definitely think you can style it as a sort of "dressy everyday" or "daytime date" or "casual date" in winter. Especially if it is comfy (as it looks).

For that, I'd try your black suede boots or flat black boots or possibly a pair of booties (probably not black for booties) and maybe a leopard print scarf like the one in Finds (you'll need to hunt for one with the right tones.) Or a plaid scarf...

Jackets over it could potentially also casualize it (i.e. a denim jacket or leather moto) but might be tricky with the sleeve detail -- you'd have to try it out and see.

Another option instead of a scarf at the neck would be a more chunky necklace of some kind.

Deb - my ears are pierced but I haven't worn earrings in a long while, and in fact, decluttered ALL my earrings. The holes may have closed up by now since it's been so long. Also because my neck is short I never liked how long dangly earrings looked on me -- something off about the proportions?

For those who suggested pearls, I do like that idea and I have pearls. I don't have any rose gold jewelry.... I will see what I can find for an alternative statement necklace.

Zibbets - my nude heels are patent leather, so they will add shine. I think I agree with you that the black boots could work for a more informal event. Reality? I will likely wear boots to schlep to the event in the cold and snow, then switch into heels once I arrive. Thing is one of the events we go to each winter is in a venue that's cold and drafty, so if I can get away with wearing boots with socks, I like to do that! But I thought this dress, with the long sleeves and substantial velvet fabric, would at least keep me warm everywhere else so maybe I will be able to tolerate cold feet for a few hours....

Lisap - my existing clutch options are: 1) cream/white leather (it's got a touch of sparkle to it); 2) black with gold studs (I tried this first and liked it a lot... unfortunately the clutch is smaller than I like); 3) white crocodile box clutch (again it's smaller than I like). My leopard clutch bit the dust recently, but I'm not opposed to having an excuse to replace it. I'm also not opposed to finding a new clutch that's just for this dress.

I think it'd be great if I could come up with a way to style this dress for every-day / and not just formal. Do you think that's possible? I am seeing a lot of velvet dresses in the stores. Is velvet just for formal or is it every day now? Could I pair with say flat black leather boots for a more mod look? Or other shade of tall boot... ? Not sure I'd wear this dress to work, even if styled down... as my office is more smart casual. But perhaps to wear out on date night sometime?

Great dress! My first thought was pearls.

I'm wondering if a garnet shoe might be completely off the wall or great, especially for a Christmas party.

What are your nude shoes like? Leather, suede, patent? I have to say, I'm not wild about the silver shoe the model is wearing with it.

I think the black boot idea is a cool one, but maybe not for a formal capsule.

Shiny,
I'm assuming that you already have the black suede boots? Maybe you should use one of those black semi sheer monochromatic black flower patterned stockings which Angie recommend recently. I think that it was mentioned in the interesting socks post. If you did that and kept everything else as simple as possible, I think that the boots and dress could read as evening party formal.

Sorry - that totally threw me off. What a sexy dress - and I like Joy's idea of nude hose and rose-gold or nude shoes. There is a lot of textural interest in the dress alone, so I'd go very big, simple and striking with a necklace. Something with pearls and gold/rose gold. I'd do a patterned or crazy textured clutch - no idea what though until I see it

Rose gold would be gorgeous with this dress. I like keeping the accessories light colored, especially with your blonde hair. Tall light colored boots would work, I think, but getting black suede to work may be difficult. Maybe treat the dress like a column of light neutral and add the black boots along with a black hat or scarf with a pattern that includes the rosy color.

Gorgeous dress!

I vote white-girl-nude shoes and hose and light brown or gold clutch, to let you and the beautiful dress be the focus. That neckline seems to me to call for a long necklace, a fairly substantial one because of the weight of the fabric. Or no necklace if you have a special gold bracelet you can wear.

I really like this dress Shiny and I can see it with black boots for a sort of Mod look. I would also add in a black necklace of some sort (or a black clutch) - just because you are blonde and to balance it out. I agree nude stockings. Maybe just a silver chain with a black pendant?

I think gold or silver jewelry would both work, or maybe rose gold too....

I just got this dress:
https://www.macys.com/shop/pro.....zes?ID=505

To add to my formal capsule, as hubby and I have lots of formal events to attend (or let's just call them semi-formal; full length gown not required). This dress fits me perfectly and somehow the color works too with my blonde hair.

How to accessorize it?

What shoes:
I have nude high heels (the ONLY high heels these days that my feet can handle). These look good with it. But could this dress also work with black suede tall boots for colder weather?

What hose?
(I'm thinking nude)

What clutch?

What jewelry?
(Note I don't wear earrings)
