It's probably a subjective thing. I usually prefer mine tight around the calves, but I have one pair of faux suede leggings that have slits on the front of the knees and I actually don't mind that theyre a wee bit loose on my calves. If they bother you, and you know you'll wear them a lot if you fix it, then it's definitely worth a visit to a tailor.

I think leggings typically fit tighter throughout the legs, usually with a little bit of slack behind the knee, which makes them a little different from tights. (Also, leggings are usually thicker fabric.) But if they fit more like skinny pants and you like the way they look and feel, why not wear them as they are? Nothing says they have to be a certain way. I think they will still go with the same things tighter leggings would go with: long tunics, dresses, short booties or tucked into tall boots. . . .

Oh, and I'm chuckling at your late-adoption comment. And identifying. :)

Hmm, I sympathize with you, as a owner of 12.5" calves. I think that leggings are supposed to fit pretty tight on the calves, and most of mine do. A little bit of wrinkling around the knee is natural, but I don't think that they should bag.

I bought a pair of leggings at the NAS...first pair ever...that are comfortable and cozy. I can see wearing them (now that that trend is over, because that's just how I do things!). Maybe. It's possible.

The problem is I have super skinny calves...13 inches at the widest. The leggings fit very well to just above my knees, but don't fit tightly below that. There is some bagging and wrinkling around my knees and lower. Are they supposed to fit completely second skin? Like tights? Or can they have a touch of looseness? I suppose I could get them tailored to fit my toothpick calves if that would be better. Sizing down wouldn't really help...I think I'd have to go to kids size, which wouldn't fit the less tiny rest of me.
